On April 10, the developer, Dogubomb, unveiled the indie game Blue Prince in PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. This game, developed by a small but highly praised team, was introduced with numerous positive reviews.

2025’s top-ranked new release has been garnering praise, with a Metacritic score of 92 and an OpenCritic rating of 91. A significant portion of this acclaim stems from creators who admire the game’s dreamlike environments and intriguing mechanics.

Currently, the same creators who originally made the game’s music are facing penalties as automated systems are marking the tunes as copyright violations. This results in their videos losing monetization and some being completely removed.

I received a copyright notice about my ‘Blue Prince’ video. The game is fantastic, but due to the claim, I had to silence it entirely for safety reasons.

Blue Prince Creators Receive Copyright Strikes

Just a few days past, Dogubomb released Patch 1.01 for Blue Prince, an improvement that streamlined overall performance issues.

As we were basking in our victory, an unexpected hurdle cropped up. It turned out that streaming or uploading my gameplay was causing copyright issues. Guess it was the soulful tunes of Blue Prince’s enigmatic soundtrack that had the Content ID bots tripping over themselves!

Dogubomb has acknowledged the issue on X and confirmed it’s not intentional.

As a player, I want you to know that the current issue isn’t something we intended or the developers did on purpose. We’re doing our best to rectify it swiftly and bring back the game experience as it should be.

In the meantime, developers are advising creators to refer to the Raw Fury guidelines, which, in principle, permit complete monetization of gameplay, but they contain particular regulations focusing on music.

In some cases, it’s essential that creators give due credit to composers and performers when necessary, or silence the background music altogether. Silencing the soundtrack could be challenging in a game where the ambiance significantly contributes to the user’s overall experience.

And that’s what makes this sting.

Blue Prince thrives on atmosphere, with its ever-changing scenery, underlying sense of unease, and haunting piano tunes that subtly heighten tension. Removing these elements for safety purposes would be similar to asking a horror content creator to present their work without sound.

In the latest update, they’ve adjusted the Random Number Generator (RNG) to dish out more predictable loot. Now, I can count on finding the hard-to-get Battery Pack more frequently, a must-have for getting to Room 46 in the Antechamber. Plus, those high-value Outer Rooms that were so scarce before, often slipping past players like me, now pop up more often.

The saved data is now less prone to issues as Patch 1.01 resolves a glitch causing old saves to be overwritten at game start. In the interim, Dogubomb has temporarily halted Backup, Restore, and Duplicate Save File functions while they develop a long-term remedy for this problem.

Regrettably, the anticipated update isn’t creating positive buzz at present. The game’s initial patch, intended to address its most notable issues, has instead sparked a fresh problem squarely targeting those who played a significant role in its initial success.

Dogubomb assures that a solution is imminent. In the meantime, if you’re intending to stream Blue Prince, it would be advisable to lower the volume level.
