The collection of games available through the PlayStation Plus service has been increased to include “Abiotic Factor.” This game, released on day one, is expected to enhance the variety of engaging cooperative games offered by PS Plus.
Created by New Zealand studio Deep Field Games, the game titled “Abiotic Factor” is a survival crafting adventure set in an open world. Players will face challenges ranging from hostile alien creatures to a military campaign. Fortunately, they don’t have to face these perils alone as the game offers online cooperative play for up to six players. Initially released as a Steam Early Access title on May 2024, it has now come out in its full multi-platform version today, July 22.
Just as we mentioned earlier, the cooperative survival game has been included in the PlayStation Plus library from its launch day. Consequently, Abiotic Factor is now accessible for Extra- and Premium-tier subscribers who own a PS5. Sony doesn’t usually reveal how long titles will remain on PS Plus, and they kept that up this time. Nevertheless, considering past trends, Abiotic Factor should stick around on the service for at least a year, as most new additions surpass the one-year mark.
Abiotic Factor Debuts to Great User Reviews
After just one day of its 1.0 launch, Abiotic Factor boasts a 4.62-star rating on the PlayStation Store, according to hundreds of reviews. This is consistent with the game’s scores from Steam users, where the early access version garnered 94.38% positive feedback over the last year, earning Valve’s “Overwhelmingly Positive” label for player reactions. Abiotic Factor became available on Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass today, but it doesn’t currently have a user rating on Microsoft’s online marketplace.
Examining the feedback from gamers, it’s clear that many appreciate the distinctive concept of Abiotic Factor, which is likened to a blend of Half-Life, Grounded, and SCP. This fusion seems to create an engaging mix of immersive simulation, horror, and survival crafting elements. The building mechanics in Abiotic Factor have also earned praise, being described as adaptable and satisfying, offering intricate layout options for structures of various forms. Additionally, the co-op multiplayer aspect has added to the game’s appeal, frequently resulting in situations filled with chaos, laughter, or a combination of both. Current user reviews often mention instances like being abducted by robots or experiencing nausea due to questionable crafting decisions as examples of unforgettable experiences.
All in all, the Abiotic Factor seems like a great inclusion in the PS Plus collection and is one of the top-rated games added to Sony’s subscription service this year (2025). Meanwhile, PS Plus subscribers have until July 23rd to grab a 30% discount on the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion. This deal was first announced on July 9th, aligning with the base game’s addition to the service.
