PS4 Gamer Buys Resident Evil 4 from GameStop, But There’s a Big Problem

As a passionate PlayStation 4 gamer, I recently bought the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake from GameStop, eagerly looking forward to experiencing the enhanced version of the classic horror game. Upon getting home and tearing open the case, I was in for an unexpected surprise – instead of the Resident Evil 4 remake that had been released in 2023 to rave reviews, I found a different game inside. The Resident Evil 4 remake boasted stunning graphics, refined melee combat, modernized controls, and numerous other delightful additions, making it a must-have for any horror gaming enthusiast like myself.

While the remake of “Resident Evil 4” has received widespread acclaim, it’s expected that some players would still favor the original game and its HD upgrade. Although both versions deliver similar gameplay, they do have certain distinctions. Intriguingly, the original “Resident Evil 4” and its HD version contain content omitted from the remake, and its lighter-hearted vibe might evoke a sense of nostalgia among fans.

It turns out that TikTok user claireredfieldswifeyy received the wrong game when they bought the Resident Evil 4 remake from GameStop. Upon opening the case at home, they found the HD remaster of Resident Evil 4 instead of the highly anticipated remake. Since both versions are available on PS4, it’s possible that a mix-up occurred during packaging. As the remake is more expensive, this may have been an upsetting experience for the TikToker. Fortunately, GameStop should be able to exchange the disc easily and provide the correct version of the game.

GameStop Gives Customer Wrong Version of Resident Evil 4

On various occasions, we’ve encountered retail mishaps similar to these. For instance, GameStop has mistakenly shipped additional games to customers, and Walmart’s games often come with the security seal still intact despite purchase. Such complications can be a hassle for consumers, but typically, they can be rectified without much fuss.

For now, Capcom has achieved considerable success by revamping Resident Evil games, and it seems they will carry on down this path. It’s been whispered that two new versions of Resident Evil games are set to debut in 2027 and 2028, with Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica potentially taking the spotlight. However, there have been no concrete developments regarding a remake of the original Resident Evil game, although fans have expressed their hopes for such a project following the style of the more recent revamps.
