Last week, the launch date for Ghost of Yotei was revealed, with pre-orders becoming available from May 2. In the United States, the new samurai game overthrew established titles like Madden 26 and College Football 26, alongside DOOM: The Dark Ages, Elden Ring Nightreign, and others. In the UK, it outperformed games such as F1 25, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and DOOM. Essentially, this new samurai game has taken the top spot in both countries.

300 years following the events of Ghost of Tsushima, the story unfolds in Ghost of Yotei, introducing our new heroine, Atsu, who seeks vengeance against a band of wrongdoers responsible for the murder of her loved ones.

Ghost of Yotei Story Synopsis:

16 years past, deep within what is now known as Hokkaido, a band of ruffians called the Yōtei Six stole all from Atsu. They murdered her loved ones, abandoning her on the brink of life, fastened to a blazing ginkgo tree beyond her dwelling.

In the first person, as a passionate fan might say: I survived, endured years of hardship, learning combat skills, honing my hunting instincts, and finally, I’ve returned home. My mission is clear: to eliminate six notorious figures – The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. They brought destruction to my family, so one by one, I track them down, armed with the very katana that once pinned me to a burning tree. However, what started as a quest for vengeance will evolve into something far greater. As I traverse Ezo, I encounter unforeseen allies and form bonds that provide me with a newfound purpose. This year, we’re anticipating a standalone PlayStation State of Play event focused solely on the game. However, not much about its gameplay has been revealed yet. Sucker Punch has hinted that Ghost of Yotei will provide the greatest freedom to explore and boast the largest map they’ve ever created.
