Sony has released a new system update for the PlayStation 5, bringing it to version 25.07-12.20.00. This update includes small improvements and a useful new feature: players can now find their console and controller’s serial numbers in the system settings. Most PS5 updates focus on improving stability, but this one adds a handy bit of functionality.
As a PlayStation fan, I’m always checking to see what Sony’s adding to the PS5, but big updates don’t happen very often. They just released an update for both the PS4 and PS5 on October 1st, but it turned out to be mostly just security improvements – a little disappointing! But good news! There’s another update out now for the PS5, and this one actually includes a really handy new feature that I think a lot of us will appreciate.
New PS5 Update Available Now
A new update is now available for PlayStation 5 owners! Version 25.07-12.20.00 lets you quickly find the serial number for your console and DualSense controllers directly in the PS5 settings. You no longer need to check the physical devices – just go to the console or accessory settings to find the information, whether your controller is connected with USB or Bluetooth.
A recent update includes a convenient new feature for players, but it’s just one of several improvements still to come for the PlayStation 5. Last month’s update significantly enhanced DualSense controllers, letting users connect them to multiple devices simultaneously. Before, you had to re-pair your controller each time you switched between a PC or different PS5 console. Now, the latest firmware allows you to register up to four devices per controller and switch between them effortlessly.
PlayStation 5 owners have a lot to look forward to in November, with six major game releases planned. The month starts strong on November 4th with both Satisfactory and 1000xRESIST, followed by PUBG: Battlegrounds on November 13th, and the eagerly awaited Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14th. Although November doesn’t feature any brand-new exclusive titles, fans recently enjoyed Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to the popular Ghost of Tsushima, which has received excellent reviews from players and critics alike.
