The PlayStation 5 from Sony had a fantastic 2025, packed with thrilling new game launches, and there are still many highly anticipated titles on the way. The majority of the year’s top-rated games are easily playable on the PS5, with only a small number of exceptions. Generally, owning a PS5 gives you access to some of the very best games available today.
Currently, the top-rated new PS5 game of 2025 is Shujinkou, a role-playing game that also helps you learn Japanese. However, it’s worth noting that Shujinkou only has 10 reviews at the moment, so its score is likely to change. If we exclude that title, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leads the pack with an excellent overall rating of 92. Following closely behind are Hollow Knight: Silksong and Split Fiction, both with a score of 91, then Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, each scoring 90.
The PS5 not only usually gets most games that are released on multiple platforms, but it also features impressive games that you can only play on PlayStation. For example, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a PS5 exclusive, and the new release, Ghost of Yotei, received a score of 87. Similarly, the highly-rated Sword of the Sea also earned an 87, and although you can play it on PC, it’s a console exclusive for the PS5.
