PS5 Live Service Game Fargame$ Reportedly Delayed

Summary

  • Fairgame$ delayed to 2026, according to latest rumors.
  • Haven Studios’ first project with minimal details.
  • Live service project announcements continue amid cancellations.

Last May, Sony introduced Fairgame$ – a thrilling heist game – as part of one of their ongoing live service initiatives being developed at one of their in-house studios.

Although no specific launch date was mentioned, there’s buzz about an internal delay pushing the game’s release to the year 2026.

Fairgame$ Is The First Project From Haven Studios

According to recent speculation from Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb, who has a track record of accurate leaks, he hinted during the most recent Game Mess podcast that it appears Fairgame$ will not be released in 2022 and has been delayed until 2026 instead.

It’s undeniable that there’s no easy way to argue against it, given that the release date for this live service game has yet to be set. Announced in 2023, the game is being developed by Haven Studios, a Canadian studio co-founded by Jade Raymond, a key figure in the creation of Assassin’s Creed. Interestingly, Sony acquired Haven Studios in 2022 even before they had launched any retail games. Despite this, Haven Studios was involved in the production of Concord, a game that faced significant criticism and became a notable failure.

Fairgame$ is a game where you can simulate robbing the rich and balancing the scales. It’s a competitive modern-day heist game, where you work together with others to break into various exotic locations and make off with the cargo. The challenge isn’t just outwitting guards and security systems; it’s also competing against other teams. The crews that manage to steal the most valuable loot and do so in style might just emerge victorious in Fairgame$. So, who will be the first member of your crew as you strive to amass wealth?

Recently, there has been a lot of media coverage about Sony’s emphasis on live services, but it hasn’t been the kind of attention they were hoping for. A few weeks ago, news broke that Sony decided to scrap two live service games, one of which was related to the God of War franchise.

Every successful title such as Helldivers 2 has numerous unsuccessful counterparts. Recently, games like Concord, XDefiant, and several other live service titles have closed down. Yet, when a concept clicks, the income generated can be substantial enough to enable developers to dedicate years of work to a single game without facing financial hardship.

We’re still in February, so there’s a chance we can hear more about Fairgame$ in the coming weeks.
