PS5 Price Increase Is Possible, Analyst Claims

Yesterday saw a significant price hike by Microsoft on all Xbox consoles, add-ons, and video games, leaving the entire gaming industry in surprise.

As a result, the Xbox Series S is now available for $380, while the cost of the Xbox Series X has risen to $600. Furthermore, it’s been announced that some upcoming Xbox games will retail for $80.

It’s quite surprising that, at present, the 2TB version of the Xbox Series X is actually priced higher than the mid-generation update of the PlayStation 5 Pro (Sony) in the U.S.!

Microsoft increased their prices due to changing market conditions, primarily because of newly implemented U.S. tariffs, which are expected to impact PlayStation 5 console prices soon as well.

US Tariffs Will Affect PS5 Prices As Well

If the price hike for PlayStation consoles mirrors that of Xbox, then the base PS5 model might retail at approximately $550, and the PS5 Pro could potentially reach around $800.

On the platform X, Daniel Ahmad – an analyst from Niko Partners – talked about potential price rises in consoles. He suggested that there could be an increase in the cost of PlayStation 5 consoles and related games too.

Previously, console prices tended to decrease over time, with fantastic discounts, particularly for sleek, newer versions. But in contrast to that trend, consoles in the current era seem to be getting more expensive instead.

People who purchased either an Xbox Series X | S or PlayStation 5 during the initial phase of this console generation were able to secure them at their lowest possible cost.

Hey there! If you’re thinking about grabbing a PS5 anytime soon, I’d advise you not to wait too long. Prices might go up sooner rather than later, straight from Sony themselves. Better act fast if you don’t want to miss out!
