As a long-time gaming enthusiast who’s been through numerous console generations and witnessed the evolution of graphics, I can’t help but be excited about the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro. The idea of revisiting my old favorites from the PS4 era with enhanced visuals is tantalizing. Games like “Alan Wake 2” and “Madden NFL 25”, which were already graphical powerhouses, will undoubtedly shine even brighter on the PS5 Pro.
According to a Sony project manager, it’s expected that the PlayStation 5 Pro will significantly improve the graphics of games initially released for the PlayStation 4. This console is scheduled to debut in early November, and not only will some specific titles get major enhancements on the PlayStation 5 Pro, but it seems that even older games from the previous generation could reap some of its advantages.
To date, over 60 games have been mentioned as receiving PS5 Pro enhancements, with titles such as “Alan Wake 2” and “Madden NFL 25” among them, along with upcoming releases like “Dragon Age: The Veilguard” and “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii”. Though these specific games will enjoy improved ray tracing capabilities and frame rates due to the upgrade, it’s important to note that not all games running on PS5 Pro will be left out – many more are expected to receive visual enhancements as well.
The new PS5 Pro model will play games from the PlayStation 4, and it’s been announced that this console will also enhance the frame rates of PS4 games, as stated by Toshimasa Aoki, a senior manager in Sony’s global product planning department. In an interview with 4Gamer, Aoki referred to this function as ‘Image Quality Boost’. This feature can be turned on or off using a setting on the PS5 Pro, and it will only improve games from the PS4 that have adjustable frame rates. However, it has the potential to make even the most visually stunning games on PS4 look even better.
Games Confirmed For PS5 Pro Enhancement
It appears some developers are finding the concept of mid-generation console release quite intriguing. Just recently, Martin Griffiths from Hello Games expressed his excitement for the upcoming console, stating it is simply fantastic. As an engine programmer for No Man’s Sky on one of the games planned for an official PlayStation 5 Pro upgrade, Griffiths has praised the PS5 Pro, showcasing its improved visuals in a screenshot and mentioning that he has programming experience dating back to the original PlayStation console.
Although the PlayStation 5 Pro boasts undeniable visual advantages, not everyone is convinced about spending the required amount to acquire it. Priced at close to $700, even accounting for inflation, this console remains one of the costliest in Sony’s almost three-decade history. The PS5 Pro has yet to sell out in the United States and the United Kingdom with less than a month until its release, leading some analysts such as Tom Warren from The Verge to suggest that the high price might deter potential buyers.
