It appears that details about a future PlayStation 6 portable console emerged yesterday, with KeplerL2 suggesting that this portable version may not match the power of the PS5. The handheld version of the console is said to have a 15-watt SoC built on a 3nm process. Today, the source has further explained on NeoGaf (via r/GamingLeaksAndRumours) that while the portable PS6 can run PS5 games, it won’t be able to do so at the same resolution and frame rates as the console version, primarily due to lower memory bandwidth.

KeplerL2 has offered insights about how the PS6 Portable might compare with current-generation consoles in terms of performance. The leaker suggests that its performance could be comparable to both the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5, though they caution that it’s difficult to make definitive statements since the device is utilizing an unlaunched GPU architecture.

KeplerL2 discussed the standard PS6 System-on-Chip (SoC), highlighting its unique characteristic of being optimized to run at low voltages compared to portable SoCs. He further noted that the number of compute units in the portable PS6 chip is significantly less than 40, as reported by KeplerL2.
