PS6 Rumors Suggest Console Will Use AMD’s UDNA Architecture

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but get excited about the potential arrival of the PlayStation 6 (PS6). The rumors swirling around its use of AMD’s next-gen UDNA GPU architecture and either a Zen4 or Zen5 CPU are music to my ears. If these rumors hold true, it seems that Sony is determined to push the boundaries of gaming once again.

Speculation about the upcoming PlayStation 6 (PS6) is gaining momentum, as it’s been four years since the launch of the PlayStation 5. According to a recent report on a Chinese forum by reliable hardware leaker zhangzhonghao, the PS6 might incorporate AMD’s future UDNA GPU architecture in its design.

In 2026, AMD will apply the same architecture in its Radeon 9000 series GPUs as they have previously announced. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the console’s CPU will be powered by either Zen4 or Zen5 technology. However, a final decision on which specific Zen version to use hasn’t been made yet, according to recent reports.

It’s not surprising to hear rumors about the PS6 potentially using AMD, given that reports from last September suggested this might be the case to maintain features like backward compatibility. Additionally, it has been speculated that even Sony’s upcoming PlayStation handheld device could incorporate AMD hardware.

It’s important to keep in mind that none of this has been confirmed by Sony in any capacity as its far too early for the company to begin publicly commenting on its next system. TopMob has also yet to independently verify the legitimacy of the rumor, so, please, take the information with a grain of salt.

From what I’ve gathered as a devoted fan, the latest intel TopMob has stumbled upon hints at a potential release year for the PS6, though there seems to be some back and forth. However, it appears that 2028 might be the year we finally get our hands on it. Moreover, rumors are swirling that Sony is working on two System on a chip (SoC) prototypes for their upcoming next-gen console.
