PSA: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Are Hacking Shiny Tera Raids

Players of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet shared warnings on social media about a possibly manipulated Tera Raid, suggesting it could let trainers capture Shiny Wo-Chien prematurely. As of now, Shiny Wo-Chien is inaccessible in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet unless specific conditions are fulfilled during the ongoing Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid event.

Known as the Ruinous Pokemon, Wo-Chien belongs to a legendary group called the Treasures of Ruin, which consists of four members. This Dark and Grass dual-type monster has a snail-like appearance with leaves all over it. During the July 22nd episode of Pokemon Presents, it was announced that the Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid series would be launched for both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with Wo-Chien being the initial offering. Unlike previous Tera raid events, the Shiny Treasures of Ruin come with a significant condition: they cannot usually be captured until each one has been defeated collectively at least one million times. Once this goal is achieved for each member, they will be distributed through Mystery Gift.

After the unveiling of the Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid event, some Pokemon trainers raised concerns when one of them managed to catch a Shiny Wo-Chien before its expected distribution date. On the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet subreddit, a user named ZealousidealClock528 submitted a bug report claiming they were able to capture a Shiny Wo-Chien after defeating it in a Tera Raid battle, which isn’t supposed to occur during the ongoing event. The original poster explained they joined a Shiny Wo-Chien raid via the Poke Portal’s Tera Raid finder menu, a feature that lets trainers join raids hosted by others. It remains unclear what techniques the host of the Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raid employed to allow other players to capture it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Report Hacked Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raids

The headline grabbed the focus of well-known Nintendo video creator Austin John Plays. He commented that although Shiny Wo-Chien could be moved to Pokemon Home following capture in a hacked Tera Raid, it was discouraged due to The Pokemon Company’s ability to erase the save files of any user breaching the terms of service. Austin John pointed out that the suspect hosting the Shiny Wo-Chien Tera Raid would display an egg symbol instead of a Pokemon, and urged Pokemon trainers to avoid any dubious Tera Raids.

Players of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can employ robust Fire-type Pokemon such as Iron Moth or Incineroar to combat Shiny Wo-Chien, thereby contributing towards the overall objective of a million wins. However, it’s yet unclear how The Pokemon Company plans to address this current scenario.
