At CES 2025, I was thrilled to witness NVIDIA‘s groundbreaking AI stride in PUBG – the ‘PUBG Ally’. This intelligent AI companion system promises to be more than just a gaming buddy, roaming the map with us and executing tasks. It’s designed to offer strategic assistance, all powered by the cutting-edge AI technology developed by NVIDIA.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been buzzing with excitement about the upcoming development in PUBG Ally characters. It seems they’ll be endowed with human-like cognitive abilities, exhibiting sharp decision-making skills and advanced levels of audio and visual perception. This technology is slated to debut in Naraka: Bladepoint and inZOI too, but the buzz is all about its anticipated introduction in PUBG, my go-to battle royale game.
Not The First Time
In August 2024, I had a conversation with the team behind Arena Breakout: Infinite about FACUL, an innovative AI companion system that aims to pair players with AI assistance instead of human players. Although FACUL wasn’t fully integrated into the game during our discussion, its potential was incredibly promising when showcased at Gamescom.
It was a throwback of sorts to the decades-old command system found in games like SOCOM.
In PUBG Ally, they’re planning for a cooperative character similar to MoreFun Studio’s FACUL engine. This character, in PUBG, will assist players by locating supplies, navigating vehicles, and offering defensive fire. It primarily relies on ‘compact language models’ to perform these tasks, allowing the character to behave like a human in any given situation.
If you’re hesitant about playing PUBG due to your fear of facing battles solo in a battle royale setting, then the PUBG Ally system could be just what you need!
Regrettably, there’s no definitive date as of yet when the system will be integrated into PUBG. During the CES 2025 presentation, it was made clear that what viewers were seeing was a technology demonstration, not a real-life depiction of the product.
