PWHL Coming To EA Sports NHL 25

As a seasoned gamer who has been following the NHL series for years, I must say this latest announcement by EA Sports and the PWHL is a game-changer! For too long, we’ve been playing without the thrill of women’s hockey leagues in our games. Now, with six teams from the PWHL joining NHL 25, it feels like we’re finally getting a taste of what we’ve been missing.

In December, it’s been announced that the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) will be featured in EA Sports’ NHL 25 game.

Beginning on December 5th, six additional teams from the PWHL – Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montréal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres – will join the game to participate in multiple game modes. These modes include Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout, and Season. Moreover, content from the PWHL will also be incorporated into World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT).

The launch comes alongside the start of the PWHL’s second season.

NHL 25’s Executive Producer, Bill Dollar, is excited to announce that we will be incorporating the PWHL into NHL 25 as part of a significant holiday update coming soon. This update offers players fresh and exciting gameplay options, starting with the fast-paced action of NHL Arcade in a few days, followed by the launch of 4 Nations Face-Off in the New Year.

For several years now, Women’s hockey has been making a significant impact in the EA Sports NHL series, with international teams featuring prominently in recent editions. However, it is only now that the PWHL becomes the first women’s league to be incorporated into the franchise. Previously, discussions about including the NWHL had taken place between EA Sports and the league, but a mutually beneficial agreement was never finalized.

Regarding this update, not every resemblance will be incorporated into the game initially. However, future updates for NHL 25 are planned to include additional ones.

Beyond the PWHL, EA Sports also revealed that the Four Nations Tournament and a fresh Arcade mode will be introduced in NHL 25 as well.
