As a seasoned Zelda adventurer with countless hours spent exploring Hyrule and its enigmatic corners, I can confidently say that the “Questioning the Local Cats” side quest in Echoes of Wisdom is one of the most purr-fectly delightful detours you’ll ever embark upon!
Once you’ve successfully navigated through the rift at Hyrule Castle, you’ll be rewarded with a new ensemble for Zelda in the game “Echoes of Wisdom“. From then on, you can switch up her look by selecting various outfits from the Equipment section within the menu. One outfit that you might want to grab right after leaving Hyrule Castle Town is the Cat Clothes. Not only does it resemble a peculiar costume for a Hyrule mascot, but wearing the Cat Clothes grants you the ability to converse with cats. There are several optional quests in “Echoes of Wisdom” that necessitate this outfit, one of which is “Inquiring from the Local Cats” located in Kakariko Village.
How to Get Cat Clothes in Echoes of Wisdom
Complete “Deliver the Grilled Fish!”
If you talk to the elderly gentleman near the eastern entrance of Kakariko Village, he’ll offer a clue about obtaining the Cat Clothes, an essential item for finishing the “Investigating the Local Cats” side mission. It’s beneficial if you’ve either completed or learned the Grilled Fish Echo from the “Bringing the Grilled Fish!” side quest in Seesyde Village. Additionally, you will need the Holmill Echo, which can be acquired during the “Trouble in Gerudo Desert” main storyline.
- Speak to the lady in front of Kakariko Village’s store in the southeastern corner of the village to start your quest to get the Cat Clothes.
- She won’t give you the outfit until she has an item buried in front of the northeastern windmill. It just so happens that a cat is napping on the tile where her treasure is buried.
- Interact with the cat, then use the Grilled Fish Echo so that it moves off the dirt tile.
- Once it’s out of the way, use the Holmill Echo over the patch of dirt to dig up a Secret Stash.
- You will then receive the Cat Outfit from the lady outside the store. This can be quipped by going into your Equipment tab in the menu.

Where is the Missing Cat?
As a fan, I invite you to embark on an exciting quest named “Questioning the Local Cats.” To complete this mission, you’ll first need to don the Cat Clothes. Then, venture into Kakariko Village where you’ll engage in conversations with the feline inhabitants.
Instead of going through the eastern gate, opt for the path leading eastward. There you will discover a tree where a cat is napping aloft. Climb up your Crawler Echo or stacked objects to reach the feline, and converse with him so he makes his way back home. The cat’s location is marked on the image below, identified by Zelda’s icon.

Where to Use Refreshing Grapes
For successfully questioning the local felines, you will be given ten juicy and revitalizing grapes as a reward. These can be consumed to partially restore your vitality, but they are more beneficial when used for blending into smoothies. By merging two refreshing grapes, you can create a refreshing smoothie that fully restores five vitality points. Mixing a refreshing grape with another ingredient will produce a distinct type of smoothie, potentially offering enhanced recovery benefits. For instance, blending a refreshing grape and fresh milk produces a refreshing milky smoothie, which restores thirteen vitality points. Keep these refreshing grapes handy if you’re aiming to complete the “Recipes, Please!” side mission.
