Ubisoft has rolled out a new update for the trial version of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, focusing on resolving various bugs. Among these issues, some were particular to Blackbeard, the star operator from Year 9 Season 4. This special software is exclusively accessible to players of Rainbow Six Siege on PC and serves to test upcoming features and modifications destined for the tactical shooter.

In their latest announcement, Ubisoft shared more insights about the forthcoming season of Rainbow Six Siege, named Operation Collision Point. Notably, the Y9S4 update includes a significant overhaul for Craig “Blackbeard” Jensen, one of the game’s American characters. As part of Operation Collision Point, Blackbeard’s original gadget, the problematic Rifle-Shield, has been removed, transforming him into an operator specializing in shields, similar to Blitz, another Attacker character. Players have had a chance to test the revamped character on the Y9S4 Test Server, but Ubisoft is still working to resolve some issues before Operation Collision Point goes live on December 3.

On the Rainbow Six Siege Test Server subreddit, community manager Ubi-Zurik shared details about the Day 5 update for the Y9S4 test version, which addressed gameplay and audio issues. For instance, one issue related to Blackbeard’s new H.U.L.L. Adaptable Shield prevented players from seeing clearly when aiming down sights or vaulting. Another bug that affected Deimos, a Rainbow Six Siege operator, caused his animation to lag when aiming down the sights of his unique .44 Vendetta sidearm. Ubi-Zurik explained that these changes made on the Y9S4 Test Server, launched on November 18, may or may not affect the regular versions of the game.

In addition to updating Blackbeard, Operation Collision Point is set to introduce notable adjustments to Sens and Thunderbird in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. For Sens, players will gain the ability to manually control the light projectors of their primary Attacker gadget once Y9S4 launches, a change that should offer increased flexibility and creative freedom for Sens users when deploying the device, as suggested by Ubisoft. Simultaneously, Thunderbird’s Kona Station pellets will now gradually restore players’ health until they reach maximum health or sustain damage.

In the upcoming Operation Collision Point, Ubisoft plans to introduce console-to-PC crossplay, improve matchmaking, and strengthen player protection systems. Earlier in October, they shared an encouraging update about their ongoing work on anti-cheat and anti-toxicity measures within Rainbow Six Siege. Preparing for Year 9, Ubisoft has stated its commitment to bolster the player protection mechanisms of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
