While Elden Ring: Nightreign includes some randomized aspects, a fresh PC mod allows for an expansion of the randomization options during gameplay.
5thMatt’s creations, the Nightregin Randomizer and Derandomizer, are available for download on Nexus Mods. As their names suggest, these tools offer not only randomization but also a ‘derandomizer’ feature that enables “consistently predictable gameplay sessions”.
If you play Elden Ring Nightreign, you might not immediately notice the differences due to its procedurally generated system, but the creator explains that there’s a randomizer at work, particularly with variations of Night Bosses. They further explain that this system generates map patterns almost entirely from scratch and has a great deal of flexibility in where it places things. In the future, they plan to expand this randomization to include enemies and bosses within maps, as well as more detailed customization options for placement.
As a gamer, I’ve found that compared to the original maps, the map randomizer offers three distinct modes tailored for my gaming style. The first one maintains a similar feel to the base game, but with minor tweaks. The second mode kicks things up a notch by randomly shuffling item rewards and adjusting circle timings and sizes, all while minimizing repetitive camps in back-to-back runs. Lastly, the “extreme random” setting takes it a step further by removing certain boundaries, providing an even more unpredictable gaming experience.
In addition to the Randomizer mod, it works perfectly with the Seamless Co-op mod, a modification that allows for two-player co-operative gameplay. This feature isn’t available in the standard game, which can currently only be played alone or in groups of three. From Software has announced plans for an official two-player mode in Elden Ring Nightreign, but they haven’t specified a release date yet. Instead, their recent efforts have been directed towards an update that was released earlier this month to fix bugs. As of now, there’s no information on when balance adjustments will be made.
