Throughout her vengeance journey in “The Last of Us Part 2“, Ellie discovers a total of six distinct weapons. Each weapon provides Ellie with a special edge when fighting against infected, WLF, and Seraphites. Given the world’s extreme hostility, it’s crucial for Ellie to carry as many weapons as possible if she hopes to endure and survive. This is particularly important because some of these weapons have unique effects and usefulness in various combat situations.
For both infected and human enemies, the game will guide players on acquiring each weapon, detailing its upgrade path, as well as highlighting its key advantages and disadvantages. This way, Ellie can strategically select the most effective weapons for her arsenal.
6. Revolver
Joel’s Gun is Great for Close-Range Runners
- How to Get the Revolver: Found within a shoebox in Joel’s house in Jackson, Packing Up.
Joel’s revolver carries deep emotional significance, being his personal weapon. However, its advantages seem to be limited when considering its usefulness in-game. To be fair, the revolver does excel at close range due to its stopping power, making it useful in Ellie’s early game in Seattle as she won’t initially have a shotgun. Yet, given how effortless it is to obtain this revolver, its value as a unique or strategic weapon somewhat diminishes.
The Revolver remains practical due to its superior range compared to the Pump Shotgun, and its impact force is quite impressive. Nevertheless, it’s important to note that this weapon packs a strong recoil which makes aiming for precise headshots more challenging than with other weapons.
5. Semi-Auto Pistol
A Reusable Gun With Easy Silencers to Make
- How to Get the Semi-Auto Pistol: Automatically acquired during the Jackson chapter.
Ellie’s primary firearm, apart from her switchblade, will primarily be her Semi-Automatic Pistol. This is the gun she carries and uses frequently. The Semi-Automatic Pistol is quite effective, given that ammunition will never be scarce due to its widespread use among WLF soldiers. Yet, it does have a few disadvantages.
In tight spaces, the Semi-Automatic Pistol isn’t top-notch when it comes to inflicting damage or reaching targets from afar. But in close quarters, it truly shines. What sets this pistol apart is its ability to be customized with suppressors, transforming it into an excellent tool for discreet, rapid-fire assassinations.
4. Bolt-Action Rifle
A One-Shot Rifle That Can Be Upgraded to a Sniper
- How to Get the Bolt-Action Rifle: Automatically acquired during the Jackson chapter.
A bolt-action rifle requires time for reloading, yet it’s highly effective at long distances. Despite its weight and slow handling, a skilled user can precisely hit targets such as a clicker or a soldier from a great distance, making it seem as if the bullet originated from anywhere.
This Bolt-Action Rifle packs a significant punch, making it an intimidating weapon for players. Without needing a headshot, it’s capable of bringing down opponents as long as it strikes them in the upper body. As upgrades are applied, this single-shot firearm will prove increasingly effective against multiple adversaries in rapid succession.
3. Pump Shotgun
The Powerful and Kicking Close-Range Shottie
- How to Get the Pump Shotgun: Acquired from within the bank vault in Seattle Day 1’s Downtown area.
In tight combat situations, the Pump Shotgun is highly dependable. With numerous enemies, particularly the infected ones charging towards Ellie, she’ll find it essential to have a weapon with a wide dispersal pattern, as the speed of her adversaries, whether skittish Stalkers or swift Runners, leaves little margin for error when aiming and firing.
In tight situations, the Pump Action Shotgun is ideal for swiftly overpowering adversaries at close quarters. This weapon becomes essential when silence isn’t an option, as Ellie uses it to quickly dispose of obstacles blocking her path during interior skirmishes, allowing her to effortlessly escape from Shamblers or Blowters.
2. Bow
The Stealth Weapon for Reusable Ammo and Long-Range Kills
- How to Get the Bow: Acquired on Seattle Day 2, Hillcrest, from a Stalker in a house.
If Ellie needs a tool for gathering resources, she could opt for the dependable Bow. This instrument has the ability to return ammunition to players occasionally when fired. Additionally, players can manufacture arrows themselves, and even concoct Explosive Arrows that can be employed to detonate clusters of enemies, such as sleeping infected who are usually not prepared for a dynamite arrow to explode them.
Beyond just the Explosive Arrow, the Bow stands out as an exceptional weapon. Enhancements can boost its drawing speed and precision for smoother long-range battles. Each arrow discharged compels players towards stealth, promising a thrilling experience overall.
1. Silenced Submachine Gun
A Permanent Silencer on a Fast Firing SMG
- How to Get the Silenced Submachine Gun: Automatically acquired after a cutscene in the Santa Barbara chapter.
In The Last of Us Part 2, the standout weapon is undeniably the Silenced Submachine Gun. Unfortunately, it’s exclusively accessible during the concluding chapter of Ellie’s tale. However, this firearm is nothing short of formidable, transforming New Game Plus into a leisurely stroll. Its built-in suppressor ensures every kill is executed stealthily, preventing Ellie from being exposed by a smoking barrel after each shot.
In open combat, the Silenced Submachine Gun stands out with its exceptional rate of fire and stability among her arsenal, making it an effective tool for swiftly taking down both human and infected targets. However, it may not be the most advantageous choice against Shamblers and Bloaters.
