The world of One Piece features many skilled swordsmen, and like most elite fighters, they rely on both powerful swordsmanship and strong Haki. While some excel at using the blade, others are more proficient with Haki. Because so many of the strongest characters in One Piece use swords, the author has showcased several incredibly powerful swordsmen who also possess impressive Haki. Some of these characters have already appeared together, and the story strongly suggests the existence of others.
Shamrock Figarland
Recently, a character named Shamrock Figarland was introduced in Elbaf, and surprisingly, he’s revealed to be Shanks’s twin brother. He left Elbaf shortly after being revealed, so it may be some time before we see him fight. However, as Shanks’s brother and the captain of the Holy Knights, Shamrock is undoubtedly incredibly strong. He fights with a sword called Cerberus and appears to have powers exceeding those of Loki, along with exceptional Haki.
Garling Figarland
Garling Figarland is the father of Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, and Shamrock, a Holy Knight. He recently rose in rank from Holy Knight to become one of the Gorosei, after what happened at Egghead. While we haven’t seen his full power yet, Garling has clearly become much stronger since the battle at God Valley. He fights with a powerful sword and his Haki was strong enough to allow him to fight against the Rocks Pirates, even though he was defeated.
Dracule Mihawk
Mihawk is famous throughout the world as the greatest swordsman, a title many others aspire to claim by beating him in a duel. While we haven’t fully seen his power in the story yet, the fact that his sword, Yoru, is black suggests he possesses incredibly strong Haki. It’s almost certain he’s mastered all forms of Haki, including a highly developed Conqueror’s Haki. His past fights with Shanks show they are evenly matched, though Mihawk is the more skilled swordsman, and Shanks has superior Haki.
Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro
Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is a member of the Five Elders and a particularly popular character with fans. He was once the only Elder known to be a swordsman, until Garling Figarland was added to the group. Nusjuro is a highly skilled fighter, especially with his sword, the Shodai Kitetsu. During the events on Egghead, he demonstrated powerful Haki and even fought Zoro, who had been strengthened by Jinbe, with apparent ease.
Kozuki Oden
Kozuki Oden was a standout character in the Wano arc, quickly becoming a fan favorite. His adventures included time with both Whitebeard and the Roger Pirates. Through flashbacks, viewers witnessed his battles against formidable opponents like Roger and Whitebeard. Upon returning to Wano, Oden had become an incredibly powerful pirate. Remarkably, his Haki was strong enough to break through Kaido’s defenses, leaving a lasting scar and nearly defeating him. Kaido even considers Oden to be among the five strongest individuals he has ever faced.
Silvers Rayleigh
Silvers Rayleigh sailed with the legendary Roger Pirates, one of the most powerful crews in the world of One Piece. Although he’s now an elderly man, Rayleigh remains remarkably strong. Unlike many powerful pirates, he doesn’t have the powers of a Devil Fruit; instead, he relies entirely on Haki. He’s a master of all three types of Haki, and his Conqueror’s Haki is especially formidable. Rayleigh has demonstrated his power by defeating a Vice Admiral, stopping an Admiral in their tracks, and even intimidating a Yonko – all through his mastery of Haki.
King Harald
Fans have gotten to know Harald through the Elbaf flashback, where he was revealed to be the most powerful king in Giant history. We saw Harald using a sword as his preferred weapon.
This was evident when he fought equally with Rocks D. Xebec, who considered him a match. Harald’s Haki was remarkably powerful, ranking among the best in the world, and fans are eager to see more of its capabilities in future chapters.
Rocks D. Xebec
Image by Viz Media Rocks D. Xebec is now a legendary figure in the world of One Piece. He famously captained the Rocks Pirates, bringing together powerful figures like Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido. It’s been revealed that Xebec didn’t have a Devil Fruit ability; his incredible power came from his mastery of Haki. His Haki was so strong he could defeat even an Admiral and Garling Figarland with ease. Remarkably, Xebec was able to resist the control of Imu for a period, though he ultimately fell under it. His Haki was also unique, generating shockwaves with the force of a hammer or cannonball.
Gol D. Roger
Gol D. Roger, the legendary Pirate King, was an incredibly powerful figure. He achieved the impossible by navigating the treacherous Grand Line and discovering the ultimate treasure, the One Piece, using only his swordsmanship and a special ability called Haki.
Considered the most powerful pirate who ever lived, Roger possessed mastery of all three forms of Haki, even battling opponents like Whitebeard. His Haki was exceptionally strong – strong enough to overcome even immortality, as he defeated Rocks D. Xebec in his powerful Domi Reversi form.
Shanks
When fans think of powerful Haki users, especially among swordsmen, Shanks is almost always the first name that comes to mind. He’s repeatedly demonstrated incredibly strong Haki, mastering all three types. His Conqueror’s Haki is particularly impressive. From instantly defeating Kid and Killer with a single blow to incapacitating and injuring an Admiral from a great distance, Shanks’ Haki feats are unmatched. Notably, during the events at Egghead, his Haki was directly compared to that of Joy Boy, highlighting just how extraordinary it truly is.
