As a dedicated Pokemon GO player with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel disappointed and frustrated by Niantic’s neglect of certain Pokemon in the game, specifically Shadow Absol. It’s been over 4 long years since we last saw it in the game, and its absence has left many players, including myself, wondering if it even exists in Pokemon GO at all.
I, as a dedicated Pokemon GO gamer, can’t help but express my shock over Niantic’s apparent neglect of Shadow Absol. It’s been ages since this elusive Pokemon was last available in the game, with no sign of it returning since early 2020. The absence of Shadow Absol from the game, coupled with its inability to be traded, has left many players questioning its very existence within Pokemon GO.
As a dedicated gamer of Pokemon GO, I’ve noticed that the game has been overflowing with events lately. However, some of us have been feeling underwhelmed with the selection of Pokemon making an appearance in those events. For instance, I’ve heard complaints from fellow trainers about how Niantic seems to prioritize spawning Kanto Pokemon over others. Moreover, it’s been a source of frustration that Shadow Pokemon have been overlooked by Niantic for more than four years now.
In a recent post on the Pokemon GO subreddit, user EllieGeiszler brought attention to an overlooked Pokemon by Niantic. This Pokemon is Absol, a Dark-type creature originally discovered in the Hoenn region during Generation 3. Absol made its appearance in Pokemon GO back in 2017, along with its shiny form. However, players have been buzzing about Shadow Absol specifically, which was introduced at the end of 2019 but hasn’t been spotted in the game since then.
Shadow Absol made its debut on December 24, 2019, and was rotated in February 2020. While the pool of Shadow Pokemon is usually rotated every once every season with the release of the Team GO Rocket Takeover events, Niantic has surprisingly ignored Absol all this while. It should be noted that back in the day, Giovanni and his team’s lineup in Pokemon GO used to switch more often, but lately, it has been once every three months or so. This has somewhat contributed to Shadow Absol’s absence from the lineup, but the fact that many other Pokemon have featured multiple times can’t be ignored either.
Surprisingly, Shadow Absol isn’t the only Pokemon variant neglected by Niantic in Pokemon GO. The Mega form of Absol has also faced similar treatment. As one user pointed out, Mega Absol was put back into the raid pool after a prolonged absence, but to add insult to injury, it was taken out three days prior to the announced date. Despite numerous complaints from players, Niantic chose not to address the issue.
Absol Isn’t The Only Shadow Pokemon Ignored By Niantic
As a dedicated Pokemon GO trainer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve noticed something peculiar in recent times. It’s not just this one elusive Shadow Absol that’s been absent from our lineups, but several other Pokemon have also been strangely missing for an extended period. For instance, Delibird and Carvanha have been MIA for roughly the same length of time.
