RDR2: Hunting Requests & Squirrel Statue Locations Revealed

In the game “Red Dead Redemption 2”, characters are needed who can act as hunters. Ms. L. Hobbs has specific taxidermy requests that need to be fulfilled in exchange for rewards and an improvement in your hunting abilities. There are a total of 5 Hunting Missions within “Red Dead Redemption 2”. Each one presents a distinct challenge, inviting players to master the art of tracking and hunting new animal species, as per Ms. Hobbs’ requests.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players have all they require to finish this side mission, which includes 5 Hunting Requests and the necessity of 19 well-preserved animal carcasses. This information also includes the locations where each Hunting Request, specific animal, and suitable weapon for acquiring perfect condition pelts can be found.

For all hunting requests, ensure that the targeted animals are in pristine condition. This implies they were hunted using appropriate firearms to achieve an efficient, humane kill on a top-tier, 3-star specimen.

Hunting Request #1

  • Reward: $50

In Chapter 2, your initial Hunting Quest is located at the Valentine Post Office. Once you’ve progressed into Chapter 2, look for this quest inside the Valentine Train Station, where it’s pinned on the post board. To complete this quest, you’ll need to gather a flawless Rabbit Hide and a flawless Squirrel, and here are some optimal locations to find them, as well as the recommended tools:

1. Perfect Rabbit Carcass: The best places to hunt rabbits include the Marsh South of Strawberry or the Forest West of Valentine. You’ll need a Rifle (Recommended: Winfield ’73) for this task.
2. Perfect Squirrel: Look for squirrels in the Tall Trees area North of Blackwater or the Gaptooth Ridge East of Valentine. A Shotgun (Recommended: Double-Barreled Shotgun) is ideal for hunting these critters.

Animal Needed Common Location Weapon Needed
Rabbit Around the forests of Scarlett Meadows in Lemoyne, near Bolger Blade and Braithwaite Manor. Varmint Rifle
Squirrel Around the trees of Clemens Point, West of Rhodes in Scarlett Meadows, Lemoyne. Bow with a Small Game Arrow

Since we only require the carcass, not the fur, avoid skinning the rabbit. Instead, store it on your horse for transportation. Upon arrival at the Post Office, choose the “mail” service option.

Following a day within the game, players can pick up their mail from Ms. L. Hobbs’ Post Office, having previously delivered carcasses to her. What Happens After Completing All Hunting Requests?

After finishing Hunting Tasks 1 through 5, players will be extended an Invitation by Ms. Hobbs. This invitation will direct them towards a Stranger Mission, leading them to the Taxidermist House in Strawberry. Upon arrival, they’ll encounter Ms. Hobbs personally and receive a Squirrel Statue as a reward. This statue can be placed on the mantle at Beecher’s Hope, but it might upset Abigail.

All Squirrel Statue Locations for It’s Art Achievement

Once players have finished all Hunting Requests within Red Dead Redemption 2, they may wish to pursue the It’s Art achievement. To achieve this, position the Squirrel Statue on the mantle at Beecher’s Hope and wait for a full in-game day before it gets moved. Subsequently, players must locate the Squirrel Statue, which will appear in six distinct locations in the following sequence:

1. In the barn near Emerald Ranch
2. On the table in the saloon at Saint Denis
3. Inside the large tent at Flatneck Station
4. On a shelf in the back room of the general store in Valentine
5. On a pedestal inside the museum in Strawberry
6. Atop a grave marker in the cemetery near Annesburg (in the southernmost part)

Once all six locations have been visited, return to Beecher’s Hope and the achievement will be unlocked.

Once you’ve grabbed the Squirrel Statue again, you’ll have to put it back on the mantelpiece. After that, just sit tight for one game day; the statue will start moving again after this interval.
