Ready Or Not 2 Is Officially Happening

As a die-hard horror fan who’s seen more slasher flicks than I care to count, the news of “Ready Or Not 2” has me absolutely ecstatic! The original was a rollercoaster ride of hilarity and terror, and with Radio Silence at the helm, I have no doubt that the sequel will be just as thrilling.

The amusingly chilling horror film “Ready Or Not” was unveiled in 2019, and it’s been officially confirmed that a second installment is on its way. This news was announced at a screening of the original movie on October 12th, 2024, as reported by Deadline.

Fans of the horror genre recognize Radio Silence, the production company run by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin. They’ve been responsible for a number of spine-tingling films such as V/H/S/94, V/H/S/99, the 2022 Scream reboot, and the upcoming Scream VI. Radio Silence also produced Abigail, though it seems unlikely there’ll be a follow-up. Given that Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin often create clever films featuring fresh takes on traditional horror tropes, fans are especially eager for Ready Or Not 2.

Given the side-splittingly funny and genuinely chilling vibe of the initial film, it’s fantastic to hear that Ready Or Not 2 is underway. According to Deadline, original writers R. Christopher Murphy and Guy Busick are set to pen the sequel as well. Although the plot details remain unclear, the return of Samara Weaving for the follow-up implies that Ready Or Not 2 will continue the story from where the first movie left off. It seems that Grace (Weaving) begins to suspect her marriage to Alex le Domas (Mark O’Brien) was a misstep, after learning about the ominous game that her in-laws and Alex’s siblings force upon them on their wedding night.

Ready Or Not 2 Is Officially Happening

Information about the release date for Ready or Not 2 hasn’t been unveiled as of now. Fans have been eagerly waiting to catch this sequel, but its arrival might take some time, similar to other horror movie sequels that have had extended production periods. For instance, while Trick ‘r Treat came out in 2007, its follow-up, Trick ‘r Treat 2, is yet to be produced. At the moment, no additional cast members for Ready or Not 2 have been disclosed either. However, considering the talented actors who were part of the original Ready or Not, one can expect another impressive ensemble in the sequel.

According to a report by Deadline, Samara Weaving expressed enthusiasm for a potential sequel of “Ready or Not” in an interview with Comicbook.com, stating that she is fully committed. Previously, in 2019, she discussed her character’s possible progression with the same publication. She hinted at where her character might be now.

I’m curious about what may follow this event. Will she end up in prison, seeking psychiatric care in an asylum, or inheriting everything? It’s unclear to me. There’s also the possibility that the police believe her actions were intentional. I can’t say for certain… Spending 90 minutes confined in a jail cell, my mind is starting to unravel.

Moving from the colorful and distinctive New York City backdrop of “Scream IV” to the chilling and unsettling wedding night experienced by Grace in “Ready Or Not,” the directors Radio Silence are crafting some genuinely remarkable and witty horror films. Regardless if “Ready Or Not 2” picks up directly after Grace’s escape from her ordeal and triumphs against her new family, or there is a time leap, it’s certain that the sequel will be as enjoyable, captivating, and prosperous as the initial release.
