REANIMAL: All Masks Locations (Behind the Mask Trophy)

In the game REANIMAL, masks are a key collectible item hidden throughout the different levels. You can find 18 masks in total (not including any bonus items from pre-ordering), and you can equip them on both the Boy and the Girl characters. This guide will help you find every mask, allowing you to collect them all and unlock the ‘Behind the Mask’ achievement or trophy.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 1

There are three masks in Chapter One: Dead in the Water of REANIMAL that players can collect.

Bird Head Mask (1/18)

Mill is one of the first places players will explore when they begin their journey in this bleak and challenging world. While climbing the stairs towards the boiler room, players will find a door on the left at the top.

Going through the door leads outside onto a raised walkway. To reach a separate, locked room, squeeze through the opening in the wall to your left.

Players will enter a small crawlspace with the Bird Head mask sitting atop one of the crates.

Worm Head Mask (2/18)

Once you’ve solved the boiler room puzzle in the first chapter of REANMIAL, you’ll find yourself in the building’s back office, which has an exit to the outside. But instead of going outside, check the lockers to your right. Opening one will reveal a hidden passage leading to a secret area.

Go into the small bathroom with the bathtub. Turn right and walk to the sink lit by the lightbulb. You’ll see some strange, intestine-like objects on the floor, and you can find the Worm Head mask there.

Conch Head Mask (3/18)

Okay, so once you get outside at the Mill with the draisine on the train tracks, look to your left. You’ll see two doors, and you want to open the one that doesn’t have a light on. That’ll take you to a hidden area – it’s pretty cool!

Walk to the end of the raised platform and enter the hidden office filled with bookshelves. The Conch Head mask is on top of a crate on the floor.

Players will discover the secret code to unlock the Bunker in Chapter 6 within this very room.

There are two masks in Chapter Two: The Cleansing House of REANIMAL that players can collect

Pig Head Mask (4/18)

Okay, so after you finally lose the Sniffer, you end up in the Village – that’s pretty much where everything happens in Chapter Two. You’re trying to get to the Cinema, and you have to go through this tailor shop. There are these two mannequins right in the middle, but don’t worry about them! If you go behind the counter on the left, you’ll find a small crack in the wall you can squeeze through to keep going.

In a hidden room, a pig’s head rests on a counter, lit by a creepy red light. Players can find and take the Pig Head mask just to the left of this unsettling display in the game REANIMAL.

Cone Head Mask (5/18)

After you get the Crowbar from the Sniffer’s Cage, you’ll find yourself back near the Cinema in Village Square. Don’t go through the damaged building towards the main goal just yet. Instead, walk back up the street (in the direction the camera was facing) until you see a door covered with wooden boards on your right. Use the Crowbar to remove the boards and open the way to a hidden area.

In the hidden room, you’ll find a spider-like enemy hiding under a traffic cone – it’s called a “Critter” in the game REANIMAL. Use the Crowbar to defeat it. Once it’s gone, you can collect the Cone Head mask and equip it on your character.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 3

There’s only a single mask that players can find in REANIMAL’s Chapter Three: After the Flood.

Deer Head Mask (6/18)

Okay, so you’re heading through the beach area and starting that long climb in chapter three? Trust me, it’s worth it – you’ll get to this gorgeous field of flowers at the top. Just keep heading left once you’re there, and you’ll eventually see a scarecrow way off in the distance. That’s where you need to go!

Hit the scarecrow with the crowbar to knock off a small creature. Then, use your crossbow to defeat the creature until it’s gone. Once it’s defeated, you can collect the Deer Head mask it drops.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 4

There are three masks in Chapter Four: No Shelter of REANIMAL that players can collect.

Bucket Head Mask (7/18)

In chapter four, players begin at the orphanage, entering through the large clock on the roof. Once inside, head to the right and crouch to find a hidden room behind a bookshelf.

Once you leave the secret room, you’ll see a small creature wandering nearby. Use your Crowbar to defeat it, and it will drop the Bucket Head mask.

Crown Head Mask (8/18)

When players explore further into the Orphanage, they’ll find a room filled with pale children. They’re all watching as Bucket Head is escorted away from a throne.

In this area, you’ll face several pale children, but your main target is the one wearing a crown. When the fight starts, they’ll try to escape to the back of the throne room. To stop them, quickly run around the throne and attack them with a close-range weapon. Defeating the crowned child will allow you to collect the Crown Head mask they’re carrying.

Plant Head Mask (9/18)

Once you’ve escaped the pale children’s attack in the bedroom, you’ll find yourself in a hallway with cracks in the floor. Turn around and run back the way you came – you’ll discover a hidden room.

In the game REANIMAL, players can obtain the Plant Head mask by pulling it from the ground after discovering the secret room.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 6

There are four masks in Chapter Six: Nobody Left Behind of REANIMAL that players can collect.

Fish Head Mask (10/18)

At the start of chapter six, players will find themselves at the Secret Bunker. As you leave the room to start the generator, don’t forget to push the crate decorated with a fish off the railing.

Okay, so after I solved that puzzle, I finally got out of the bunker and started heading down a bunch of stairs until I reached the hole in the wall. But before I messed with the boat, I kept walking to the left along the beach, and I spotted this little creature way off in the distance. It turns out that’s the same one that was stuck in the box I moved back at the bunker!

After you’ve taken out the Critter, you’ll be able to pick up the Fish Head mask in REANIMAL.

Package Head Mask (11/18)

After you advance past the area guarded by the sea monster, you’ll reach a huge, abandoned ship. Before going to the beach to board it, turn right and look for a path blocked by mines. Use your harpoons to destroy the mines so you can safely continue.

Okay, so I hopped on the boat and followed the path until I hit a beach. I walked a bit further inland towards some open containers, and that’s where I found the Package Head mask – it was sitting right on top of a wooden pallet. Easy peasy!

Two Diving Helmets Mask (13/18)

Once you’ve completed the deep diving part and fixed the whale’s eye, your characters will remove their diving suits. Before continuing, remember to collect both diving helmets – they have unique designs and are some of the coolest-looking masks in REANIMAL.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 7

There are four masks in Chapter Seven: The Spoils of REANIMAL that players can collect.

Bush Head Mask (14/18)

In chapter seven, as you navigate the streets damaged by war, you’ll reach the entrance to the trenches. Before you go down into them, turn right onto the road and you’ll find a red shutter you can open.

Inside the shutter, you’ll be able to grab the Bush Head mask on top of a brown suitcase.

Mine Head Mask (15/18)

While navigating the Trenches, you’ll unfortunately come across a disturbing sight: three soldiers who have taken their own lives – two used pistols and one used a rifle. Once you’ve passed this area, head left through the trenches. Just before you reach the bridge overhead, turn left again and carefully squeeze through a narrow opening in the wall.

The room is filled with weapons, and the Mine Head mask is lying on the floor next to a burning candle.

Rabbit Head Mask (16/18)

As you progress through the Trenches, you’ll reach an open space. The camera will show a large soldier moving away, then focus on a crack in the trench wall to your left – you can go through it.

You can find a rabbit shrine with the Rabbit Head mask inside a secret area. To unlock it, you’ll need to light candles at five smaller shrines hidden in chapters one, three, four, six, and seven.

Amphibian (Frog) Head Mask (17/18)

Okay, so once you get out of the Trenches, you’ll find yourself in this creepy, abandoned hospital. Head into the surgery room, and look for a small opening under the desk – you can crouch down and crawl through there.

In the secret room of REANIMAL, players can find the Amphibian Head mask inside a crate.

All Mask Locations in REANIMAL Chapter 8

There’s only one mask to collect in Chapter 8: The Watcher of REANIMAL.

Gas Head Mask (18/18)

Once you have the key from the hanging soldiers, you’ll move into a new area where you’ll find an oven. Open the oven, and a small creature will pop out and run back through the pipe to the room with the hanging soldiers.

Go back to the last room and get a weapon from the crate on the right side. When the Critter stops moving, shoot it to defeat it, then pick up the Gas Head mask.

Once you’ve acquired all 18 Masks, you’ll unlock the Behind the Mask trophy/achievement in REANIMAL.
