REANIMAL has a secret ending that’s surprisingly well-hidden! To unlock it, you need to find every single coffin hidden throughout the game – miss just one, and you won’t be able to see it. The game doesn’t offer any help or second chances, so knowing where to search is crucial. This guide will show you the location of every coffin, allowing you to unlock both the secret ending and the ‘Friends Reunited’ trophy/achievement.
All Coffin Locations in REANIMAL (Secret Ending)
Throughout the game REANIMAL, you can find a total of five hidden coffins. When you open each one, a ghostly child will appear, revealing a tragic part of their story. This guide will show you how to locate all the coffins and unlock the secret ending.
First Coffin Location in REANIMAL (Chapter One: Dead in the Water)
Once players collect all the railcar’s wheels, they can ride it along the tracks and over the bridge to the other side. Remember to stop the railcar and get off before going through the tunnel on the other side of the bridge.
Continue to the left until you see a train car with an open door. Climb inside, walk through to the back, and then exit on the other side.
You’ll find yourself at a damaged train track where a small wooden railcar has collided with a tunnel. Nearby, a trembling coffin lies on the ground, and opening it will release the first spirit.
Second Coffin Location in REANIMAL (Chapter Three: After the Flood)
As you travel by boat through the flooded town, collect harpoons. When you see the Hotel sign, turn right and continue down that street.
Turn left at the end of the street and you’ll see a small path. It’s blocked by two sea mines, so you’ll need to destroy them. Once they’re clear, follow the narrow path to reach the beach.
So, you follow this really tight path, and suddenly you’re in this open space that looks exactly like a prison. Right in front of me, there’s this cell, and it’s glowing yellow – it’s pretty eerie, honestly!
Squeeze past the bar and head down the long stairs. At the bottom, you’ll find a small platform where the second coffin is located.
Third Coffin Location in REANIMAL (Chapter Three: After the Flood)
Once a friend is captured by a giant pelican and taken to a lighthouse, you’ll arrive at a new area featuring an island. To get to the other side, you’ll need to circle around the island – specifically, go around it in the correct direction – past a large cannon located there.
You’ll find a small cave on the right side of the mountain. It’s hidden on the opposite side of the island from the cannon’s open door – head that way to find it.
Once you get past the cavern, you’ll find the third Coffin in REANIMAL, where you can release the spirit trapped within.
Fourth Coffin Location in REANIMAL (Chapter Four: No Shelter)
In chapter four, while exploring the Orphanage, you’ll come across the room where the child with the bucket on their head is being lowered into a hole. After a brief fight with other pale children, you can pull the bucket-headed child out. Before continuing with the story, go to the door on the left side of the room.
In the room, you’ll discover a fourth coffin. Opening it will release the spirit of another child who was lost.
Fifth Coffin Location in REANIMAL (Chapter Seven: The Spoils)
Later in the hospital section of chapter seven, players will face a challenging escape from several rooms filled with enemies that explode on impact. This culminates in a tense run through a hallway where these same explosive enemies are causing chaos.
When you get to the end of the hall, turn right. Don’t go through the door – wait until the explosions stop. Then, walk back towards where you started, and you’ll see a hole in the wall made by the blasts. Go through the hole and turn the handle – it leads to a secret underground armory.
After climbing down the long ladder into the armor, you’ll discover the last Coffin. Finding all five Coffins in REANIMAL allows you to continue the story and finish the game. The main ending won’t change, but a hidden cutscene will play at the end (I won’t give away any spoilers!) which unlocks the Friends United trophy.
