A source familiar with the plans says that even though Red Dead Redemption is now available on newer consoles, an upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is still planned for release.

Rockstar just dropped some amazing news – not only are they giving current console players a free upgrade, but they’re letting us play Red Dead Redemption on our phones and tablets through Netflix! Seriously, Red Dead on mobile? That’s a game changer.
The New Announcements Do Not Negate RDR2 From Happening
A popular gaming insider known as NateTheHate was criticized on X (formerly Twitter) for not predicting the recent announcement of a current-generation version of Red Dead Redemption. NateTheHate replied, pointing out that this doesn’t change the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is also getting an upgrade for current-generation consoles.
Nate shared that he was told the enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to launch “a few months” after the new Nintendo Switch 2 comes out. He’d heard this earlier in the year, but with the delay of GTA 6, and knowing Rockstar Games often changes its plans, the release dates for both games are uncertain and could shift.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has achieved a major milestone, becoming the fourth best-selling video game of all time, moving ahead of Mario Kart 8 in sales. As the game’s anniversary approached, rumors about an upgraded version started circulating again.
