This is achievable thanks to the incredibly detailed open world in Rockstar games, which continues to reveal hidden secrets even after extensive searching by players.

What really draws you into the game is the detail – every character has a daily routine. That single question quickly led to a flood of nostalgic memories and some surprisingly grim theories about what her role in the game actually is.

Lillian Powell is a character who’s hard to miss. She stands out from the crowd with her elegant clothes, which seem out of place in the dirty bar, and she’s quick to voice her unhappiness. Unlocking her full story requires players to have four separate conversations with her, but there’s a hidden rule: you must wait three full days between each conversation. Because the game doesn’t tell you this, most players never discover her complete storyline.

When they first meet, Lillian playfully tests Arthur by asking if he remembers her, hinting she used to be a well-known figure in Saint-Denis society. She then quickly brushes him off, seeking someone she finds more engaging.

After just a short time, her composed exterior falls apart, and it becomes clear she’s struggling with a serious cocaine addiction as she frantically searches for someone named Jimmy to get her drugs. In her last moments, she shares her name and sadly admits she was once famous, but has fallen to the point of being known only as a local, hopeless alcoholic.

I’ve been playing Red Dead and I noticed this woman always hanging around the Bastille Saloon in Saint Denis, always dressed so nicely but constantly complaining. It got me wondering, what’s her deal? And honestly, just asking about her online opened up a whole can of worms! People started sharing these really interesting, and sometimes pretty dark, theories about who she is and what she’s doing in the game. It’s wild how much thought went into this seemingly small detail!

The campaign mission, “The Gilded Cage,” gets really interesting when you find Lillian at the mayor’s party, noticeably intoxicated – and that’s when fans started developing some unsettling theories about her.

The popular theory about Lillian is that she’s a ghost haunted by her past – a woman whose life was destroyed by addiction. She now exists as a sad, regretful shadow of her former self. Some players believe that repeatedly visiting her can unlock hidden dialogue, even claiming she’s depicted chewing cocaine gum, but this is likely just a rumor within the game’s community.

What bothers many players the most is that Lillian mysteriously disappears. After you’ve heard everything she has to say, she’s simply gone, leaving no explanation. Because she seemed to believe life was meaningless, some players think she took her own life. Interestingly, she’s remembered in the game by a collectible Cigarette Card, which is usually given to characters who play a major role in the story.

One viewer pointed out that the character Lillian Powell seemed to have a larger story that wasn’t fully shown, explaining, “You’re introduced to her, but her storyline just stops.” This leads to speculation that she may have initially been intended to play a more significant part in the Saint-Denis section of the game, possibly as an unusual helper during the mission, or even in a more substantial role.

As usual, Rockstar Games hasn’t commented on any of the theories surrounding this. Whether Lillian Powell was originally part of a larger story that was removed, or if her story was always meant to be a sad reflection of the time period, she remains one of the most memorable and unsettling mysteries in Red Dead Redemption 2.
