Red Dead Redemption 3 Should Take One Type of RDR2 Side Quest to the Next Level

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent roaming the wild west of Red Dead Redemption 2, I can wholeheartedly say that the introduction of Marko Dragic and his inventions was a breath of fresh air. The sense of wonder and curiosity these side quests evoked as I interacted with the emerging technology of the early 20th century was nothing short of captivating.

One significant topic woven into the storyline of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the evolution and transformation. The Van der Linde gang confronts the advancing tide of modernity, a force that jeopardizes their criminal lifestyle, presenting both favorable and unfavorable outcomes. Characters such as Dutch Van der Linde find it challenging to accept and adapt to these changes, while the wider society seems to be eagerly adopting them.

In the game “Red Dead Redemption 2”, change is palpable in numerous ways. One method Rockstar Games uses to make players feel the pressure of modernization is by incorporating side missions that highlight emerging technology. It could be beneficial for future installments of “Red Dead Redemption” to continue this trend, as it provides an opportunity to showcase inventions from the early 20th century, adding a fresh and engaging element to the franchise.

Marko Dragic and His Wonderful Inventions in Red Dead Redemption 2

As I roamed the streets of Saint-Denis, I stumbled upon an ingenious inventor named Marko Dragic. Our paths initially crossed as he was expertly navigating a remote-controlled submersible. Intrigued and with a mission to prove Marcelle wrong about Marko’s authenticity, I took the controls and demonstrated the technology’s legitimacy. If I managed to pull off this underwater escapade successfully, Marko extended an invitation for me to check out his lab in Doverhill.

In my gaming world, I run into Marko once more when I, as Arthur Morgan, drop by his lab. There, he’s tinkering with a robot and asks for my help to set up some electrical wiring outside the lab. Seeing the excitement on his face as he brings the robot to life, I can’t help but feel a sense of joy along with him. However, upon returning to the lab later in my adventures, I find that Marko has met an unfortunate end – at the hands of his own creation! Using an electric lantern, I track down the murderous robot and… well, let’s just say the rest is a thrilling tale of technology gone awry. Though it may not be a strict retelling of history, Marko’s storyline certainly adds an entertaining twist to the broader theme of technological advancement.

Arturo Bullard Also Has an Invention

During his meeting with Arturo Bullard, Arthur has the opportunity to observe cutting-edge technology as well. Arturo offers to go on a hot air balloon excursion with Arthur to verify John Marston’s presence in the prison. Arthur is tasked with piloting the hot air balloon, and after confirming that John is indeed inside, they spot Sadie being assaulted by O’Driscoll gang members. In response, Arthur must fire upon the attackers from the hot air balloon. Regrettably, Arturo sustains a fatal injury in this encounter. This time around, players get to experiment with innovative technology, which enables Arthur to soar through the skies.

Future Red Dead Redemption Games Should Explore More New Technology

Should “Red Dead Redemption 3” be set immediately following the events of both “Red Dead Redemption” and its prequel, it would offer the series another opportunity to delve into the burgeoning technology of early 20th century America. Potential technologies that could feature in the game include:

  • Radio communication and the advent of mass media – Reginald A. Fessenden, a Canadian-born American inventor, became the first person to send audio via electromagnetic waves in 1900. In 1906 he became the first person to make a public wireless broadcast. The next Red Dead Redemption game could explore the impact of the invention of the radio and how it ushered in the birth of mass media.
  • Automobiles, aviation, and the decline of the horse – This is explored a bit in the first Red Dead Redemption game, but more could be done. In RDR 3, side quests could deal with characters who are skeptical of the new “horseless carriages” or perhaps overly enthusiastic about their abilities. The focus on transport could extend to planes and the numerous failed experiments it took to finally get flying transport right.

The Red Dead Redemption series is known for its strong storylines and themes. Future installments might expand on this by exploring the impact of advancing technology in the 20th century as a means of social commentary. While maintaining historical accuracy isn’t essential, it could still be entertaining to weave elements of real-life technological developments into the game, along with engaging side quests for players to enjoy.
