Relationship Guide In Starsand Island

In relaxing games like Starsand Island, getting to know the characters is a key part of the experience. Even if you don’t want a romantic relationship, being friendly to the villagers is beneficial, and often unlocks new content, events, or ways to interact with them as you build friendships.

Currently, in the Early Access version of Starsand Island, the relationship system is quite simple. You can’t have heart events or get married yet, but there are still ways to improve your relationships with characters.

Relationship Guide In Starsand Island

You can see a list of people you know and how you’re connected with them by opening the Social tab on your phone.

This section provides a brief introduction to the person, including their weight and height. As you read, you can also get a sense of how old they are now.

I’ve noticed that the people I’m trying to get to know better on Starsand Island feel a lot more involved than just regular villagers. Still, I try to be friendly with everyone – it’s important to be a good neighbor, you know?

Building good relationships with residents is easier if you give them gifts they enjoy. The game keeps track of what gifts each resident likes, as well as what they dislike or even hate – though it doesn’t record neutral reactions. This information is stored on their profile so you can easily see their preferences.

Okay, so here’s the deal: a lot of the feedback you’ll get won’t be strongly positive or negative – it’ll be pretty neutral. Because of that, you can’t just rely on automated systems to sort it; you’ll actually have to keep track of those ‘middle-of-the-road’ opinions yourself. It’s a bit of a hassle, but important to get a full picture.

As a total cinema buff, I’ve noticed that once you really connect with a character – the game tells you you’ve reached one heart – you’re supposed to start getting little gifts from them regularly. But honestly, I’ve been surprised a few times! It doesn’t always seem to need that first heart connection; I’ve received gifts from characters even before we hit that milestone. It’s a nice little bonus either way!

In Two Hearts, you can initiate a photo-taking interaction directly with the character you’re interested in. While you can still take pictures normally, this method lets you specifically pose for a photo with your love interest.

After building a strong relationship with someone – reaching three hearts – you’ll be able to visit their personal room. These rooms are always locked at first, but unlock automatically as you get closer to the character. Each room contains a unique gift for you to find.

Once you’ve earned four hearts with a character, you can ask them for things at the request board. These requests will give you items connected to their story. For instance, Zephyria might bring you things he found during his time in Moonlit Forest, and Delphin can provide you with different types of fish.

Once you’ve earned five hearts with someone you’re romancing, you can invite them to live on your farm. They’ll come and go as they please, and they’ll also help out with chores like tidying up, caring for animals, and watering crops.

The game claims that if you provide an extra bed, your companions will also sleep at your house. However, you usually fall asleep before them, so you don’t actually get to see this happen. The only way to know it worked is if they leave in the morning.
