Remedy Entertainment CEO Moves On from Role After Nearly a Decade

The CEO of Remedy Entertainment is leaving their position, effective immediately. They have been in the role since August 2016.

Remedy Entertainment has been facing challenges recently, mainly because their game, Firebreak, didn’t perform as well as expected. The company’s previous CEO recently announced that Firebreak didn’t reach its sales goals, and now, they’ve announced that the CEO is leaving the company.

Remedy Will Initiate a Search Process for a New CEO Immediately

Remedy Entertainment announced today that Tero Virtala is leaving his role as CEO. This decision was made jointly by Virtala and the company’s board. A search for a new CEO will begin right away, and Virtala will help with the transition for a period of time to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

Okay, so things are shifting at Remedy. They’ve appointed Markus Mäki – one of the original founders and a long-time board member since way back in ’95 – as the interim CEO, starting October 22nd, 2025. Apparently, he’s been heavily involved in the production side of things for years. He’s stepping down as Chairman of the Board though, and Henri Österlund is taking over that role. It’s good to see a veteran taking the lead, hopefully it means smooth sailing for the next game!
