As a seasoned gamer who has clocked thousands of hours in the action-RPG genre, I can confidently say that Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 has been an absolute joy to play. The latest DLC, The Dark Horizon, is a testament to their commitment towards delivering quality content and continuous updates to their players.
1-year post its release, Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 is completing its cycle with the debut of its third and last DLC, The Dark Horizon, marking the finale of the game’s promised expansions. With three successful DLC additions to the original game, the title now stands in a place where developers can continue nurturing it through adjustments and updates to the existing gameplay dynamics. Naturally, player feedback and community sentiment play a significant role in how Gunfire’s development team tinkers with the game’s mechanics, such as refining new powers, gear, and abilities for upcoming Archetypes.
As a dedicated gamer, I recently got a behind-the-scenes peek at the creative minds behind Remnant 2, chatting with two of their lead designers – Ben Cureton and Steve Bednarz. Both have clocked in thousands of hours playing this game outside of their development time. Recognizing that Remnant 2 is a community-driven game, they emphasized that fan feedback plays a crucial role in its evolution. Consequently, the team consistently seeks and listens to player opinions as a foundation for enhancing and refining Remnant 2 by potentially adding new classes or fine-tuning the existing toolkit based on player suggestions.
Remnant 2’s Gameplay Team Is Always Looking For Ways to Improve the Experience
Beyond adding substantial fresh story material, a novel Archetype character, and a fresh Boss Rush gameplay mode, The Dark Horizon expansion for Remnant 2 is also honoring the most frequently asked-for feature in the game: an item filter. Furthermore, the free update that will be released concurrently with the DLC offers numerous updates and alterations to the game’s user interface and item economy, such as the new Prism system, a revamped Relic Fragment system and menus, and overall improvements.
The proposed adjustments are suggestions from the Remnant 2 community that the game creators take seriously and implement to promote ongoing enhancements.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed how the dev team tweaks certain skills and traits, either boosting or toning them down. They also work on creating fresh Archetypes for the game. Ben Cureton, our principal gameplay designer, emphasized the importance of fan input in shaping the design. Often, community feedback aligns with ideas the team has been considering, enabling them to prioritize changes more effectively, aiming to satisfy us players.
We certainly consider that aspect. Given that players might spend around 300-400 hours playing the game, while we ponder over it for a staggering 10,000 hours, our perspective is broader. This doesn’t make us infallible, but rather implies that we’ve given thought to many of those scenarios as well.

Perhaps the feedback reshuffles things; it might elevate something, or delay another, in various ways.
In a significant update to Remnant 2, lead designer Steve Bednarz explains that the Ritualist Archetype was developed, as there were concerns about weak status effects in the original game version. To address this issue, the development team created a new class focused on inflicting negative statuses and enhancing other classes’ debilitating abilities: the Ritualist. Bednarz further emphasized that player feedback and preferences for preferred builds or team combinations significantly influence how the gameplay team makes adjustments.
As a dedicated gamer myself, I’m always keeping my ears open for your suggestions on how to make our game even better. I strive to adjust the settings based on what you find lacking or could use a bit more of, if you catch my drift. I value your feedback and aim to fill in the gaps that you believe are missing from the gaming experience.
