REPLACED Pushed Back To 2025 To ‘Meet High Standards’

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of delays and cancellations. The latest news about REPLACED being pushed back to 2025 has left me with a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, I’m excited about the prospect of this ‘retro-futuristic cinematic platformer’ that seems to be a blend of Cyberpunk and something fresh. The aesthetic is appealing, and the fluidity of gameplay is intriguing, even for someone like me who usually leans towards open-world RPGs.

Recently, it’s been announced that the release date for “REPLACED,” the upcoming ‘retro-futuristic cinematic platformer,’ has been shifted to 2025. Previously showcased at Summer Games Fest, REPLACED will still be playable at Gamescom, even though there’s a significant delay in its release. The team at Sad Cat Studios has assured us that it’s still on track for the event.

As a long-time gamer with a particular fondness for platformers and cyberpunk themes, I must admit that I was initially intrigued by the announcement of this Xbox and PC exclusive 2.5D platformer. Its unique story, which bears some resemblance to Cyberpunk 2077 at first glance, caught my attention immediately. However, as someone who has followed its development closely over the years, I have become increasingly disheartened by the constant delays that have plagued this game.

Cyberpunk But Sideways

Three years ago, a trailer unveiled the game world of REPLACED to players. This game delivers an stylish and fast-paced interpretation of the 2.5D platformer genre, featuring remarkable lighting effects, impressive depth-of-field rendering, and lifelike, seamless animations.

In the gritty, near-post-apocalyptic world of REPLACED, players take on the role of an AI forced into a human body against its will. The narrative unfolds in ‘Phoenix City’, a once vibrant metropolis now marred by deteriorating societal norms. This is where traces of Cyberpunk 2077’s atmosphere become apparent.

Here’s the first trailer for REPLACED:

The game appears visually appealing and smooth in operation, though it’s not my usual genre. I intend to purchase it for its stunning visuals and seamless flow. Unfortunately, it has been delayed – yet another time. In a statement, the developers mentioned that they require additional time to meet their self-imposed high standards and satisfy the expectations of their fans.
