As an old-time adventurer who’s seen more than a few quakes shake the land of Mistria, I can’t help but feel for Olric, that sturdy blacksmith with a heart as hard as his hammer blows. The tale of him and Errol losing their tools in the great earthquake struck a chord in my weathered heart.
On Monday, Spring 15 (Monday), make your way to Fields of Mistria. Near the General Store, you’ll find the Request Board. From there, pick up the task ‘A Miner’s Pickaxe Request’ from Olric.
As a gamer, I’m tasked with finding a miner’s pickaxe for Olric, my fellow adventurer. During the earthquake in Mistria, their shared stash took a hit, and while Olric managed to recover his pickaxe, Errol’s is still missing. In the realm of Fields of Mistria, it appears that the Miner’s Pickaxe can only be found within the Mines. If you’ve progressed far enough in the game, you should have already unlocked these mines as they are located to the west of the Museum.
It is advisable to venture into the Mines first thing in the morning, ensuring you’re well-rested and full of energy, so you can spend more time exploring beneath the surface. If needed, you can refresh yourself with a complimentary soup meal at the Inn or even take a bath at the Bathhouse to rejuvenate.
To discover the Miner’s Pickaxe, however, you should explore the initial stages of the Mines and dig up the small, rounded mounds that appear sporadically on the ground using your pickaxe (or shovel).
As a gamer, if you haven’t found the Miner’s Pickaxe yet, it will show up as a rock with a question mark on it in your game world. Just grab it and examine it closely to reveal its true form. There’s a possibility that the rock could be the elusive Miner’s Pickaxe you’ve been searching for!
As a gamer, I found myself pondering over two options – donating this artifact to the museum or delivering it to Olric. The museum route seems appealing, but if I want to complete that side quest, I’ve got to take it to Olric.
