As an experienced adventurer who’s traversed Hyrule countless times, I can’t stress enough the importance of following these instructions to the letter. From the Deku Scrub’s house in the north, you’ll find yourself at the Faron Wetlands Ruins where Smog has taken refuge.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve always cheered for Link in the iconic world of Zelda. However, the game Echoes of Wisdom presents an exciting twist by placing Princess Zelda at the forefront of the action. In this captivating tale, it’s Link who finds himself lost in a rift, leaving him absent for much of the adventure. As you delve deeper into the story, you’ll uncover details about prime energy, the priestess, and the hero – elements that will set you on two new narrative journeys: “Lands of the Goddesses” and “Rescuing the Hero Link.” The latter quest unfolds as you progress through the narrative of Echoes of Wisdom.
“Rescuing the Hero Link” Walkthrough in Echoes of Wisdom
How to Complete
In the game “Echoes of Wisdom”, the story mission called “Saving the Heroic Connection” is yet to be completed in your Adventure Log, as it’s only accessible after the final dungeon. However, before you can tackle that quest, you need to finish the “Lands of the Goddesses” mission first. To do this, your initial objective should be to close the giant fissures found in Eldin Volcano, Holy Mount Lanayru, and Faron Wetlands. Once you’ve secured approval from all three goddesses by completing their tasks, you’ll find yourself waking up in your room at Hyrule Castle. The villain, Null, has created a replica of Princess Zelda using Echoes, and aims to seize the main energy source with it.
To reach the Eternal Forest, talk to General Wright. After activating the monument there, place the Echoes of the Ancient Orb into pedestals scattered around the forest. This will uncover a hidden path further within the forest leading you to the Great Deku Tree.
You should swap Accessories
as you go to make the terrain easier to navigate.
In your encounter with Echo Zelda, you’ll notice Link confined within a crystal cage. To stand a chance in this fight, unleash your most potent Echoes, including Lynels or Level 3 creatures. Don’t forget to take advantage of the Hero’s Bow when she jumps to attack her while airborne. Upon her stumble and stun, switch to Swordfighter Mode for maximum strikes.
Following the skirmish, activate Swordfighter Mode and fire an arrow towards Link’s crystalline prison. This action will initiate a cutscene and update “Rescuing the Hero Link” as complete in your Adventure Log. Subsequently, you can converse with Link to embark on Null’s Body, the concluding dungeon of the game. However, be aware that using this ability will cause Zelda to forfeit Swordfighter Mode and return all of Link’s gear. Consequently, for the remainder of the game, you’ll need to collaborate with Link and utilize your Echoes in combat.
Things to Do Before “Rescuing the Hero Link”
How to Prepare for Final Dungeon
Might Crystals and Heart Pieces
If you haven’t already done so, you should fully upgrade Swordfighter Mode. This means getting a max energy bar (lv. 4) and upgrading the sword, bow, and bombs to level 3. If you’re missing Might Crystals, then leave the Still World and start working on any remaining side quests or minigames. You should also look around Hyrule, since many Might Crystals are hidden in tall grass or buried in the ground. If you have the Might Bell, equipping it will make it easier to track down Might Crystals.
Be sure to complete all fifty side missions, including the mini-games, for Heart Pieces. It’s best to aim for maximum hearts before confronting Null. Additionally, don’t forget to stop by the Smoothie Shop and craft smoothies using a Golden Egg as an ingredient. These golden smoothies restore 15 or more hearts, and when combined with a Tough Mango, they provide Zelda with additional defense.
Accessories
- Complete “Let’s Play a Game” and “Cotton-Candy Hunt” to get the Curious Charm. “Let’s Play a Game” is found at the Eastern Ruins in Eastern Hyrule Field. “Cotton-Candy Hunt” requires the completion of “Let’s Play a Game” and “A Rift in Faron Wetlands.” If you’ve done these already, then speak to the Deku Scrub near the totem pole by the well you used to escape the Scrubton prison. You’ll then need to track down the same monster you fought in “Let’s Play a Game,” only now, Smog has moved to the Faron Wetlands Ruins. To reach them, head north from the Deku Scrub’s house that was swallowed by the rift. The Curious Charm will reduce the damage that Zelda takes.
- If you didn’t grab it before Jabul Waters Rift, you should purchase the Zora’s Flippers (350 Rupees) from the River Zora Village.
- You can also do the quest “The Zora Child’s Fate” for the Zora Scale, which increases Zelda’s Dive Time. This side quest can be accepted by speaking to the River Zora child by the waterfall in the River Zora Village.
Power Up Tri
Another thing you should do is finish clearing up any remaining rifts. If you look at your map, you should be able to tell if there are small rifts remaining in Hyrule. These aren’t required to complete the game, but if you want to raise Tri’s level to 11, you’re going to need to do them. The optional rifts are:
- * Stilled Carrot Patch
- Stilled Northern Sanctuary
- Stilled Lake Hylia
- Stilled Hebra Mountain Passage
- * Stilled Southern Hyrule Field
- Stilled Eastern Zora River
- Stilled Western Eldin Volcano
- Stilled Lower Suthorn Forest
- Stilled Heart Lake
* These rifts will only appear in side quests. The Carrot Patch spawns in “Impa’s Gift” and the Southern Hyrule Field rift appears in “From the Heart.”
Other than the tranquil lakes of Hylia and the Northern Sanctuary, you can tackle any additional rifts only after finishing the main quest titled “Still Missing.” Doing so will reward you with a slight increase in experience points and Might Crystals.
Lastly, as Zelda cannot employ Swordfighter Mode against the ultimate foe, it would be wise for you to master these Echoes prior to returning Link’s gear.
