Summary

- Wesker’s cruelty is evident in betraying allies like Excella and destroying Lisa Trevor’s life.
In the world of Resident Evil, Albert Wesker is often seen as the primary antagonist, known for his chilling role. His intimidating figure alone sends shivers, but what truly makes him unsettling is his readiness to eliminate anyone he perceives as an adversary. With superhuman powers that grant him extraordinary strength and agility beyond normal human capabilities, Wesker can easily defeat both humans and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.Ws) with minimal effort.
Consequently, he’s amassed a significant number of kills, earning him the title as the series’ scariest character according to fans. Despite being defeated by Chris in the fifth mainline game, Wesker has left a trail of tragic deaths across various Resident Evil titles. The following individuals are his most notorious victims:
1. Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 3: Nemesis)
2. Rebecca Chambers (Resident Evil 2: Director’s Cut)
3. Albert Wesker (Resident Evil: Code Veronica X)
4. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 5)
5. Ada Wong (Multiple titles)
6. Oswell Spencer
Wesker’s Own “Master” Was Taken Out By His Creation
Although Spencer didn’t physically debut until “Resident Evil 5”, his role is significantly significant within the broader narrative of the series. As overseer of the Wesker project, Spencer was responsible for supervising the growth and development of the Wesker offspring, including Albert, during their formative years. By the time he makes an appearance in the fifth game, Spencer is an elderly man reliant on life support; evidently nearing the end of his life.
In this condition, all he can manage are prolonged speeches about how he believes himself worthy of divine status, even though it’s no longer feasible for him. In his final address, just as Chris and Jill burst into the room, Wesker ends Spencer’s life by plunging a knife into his chest, eliminating any obstacles that might challenge his claim to godhood.
5. Enrico Marini
Enrico Knew Too Much, And As A Result, Needed To Be Dealt With
As Jill and her fellow S.T.A.R.S Bravo teammates enter Spencer Mansion, they appear united in their understanding of the mission objectives. However, unbeknownst to them, the entire scenario had been orchestrated by Wesker as a means to assess Umbrella’s Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.Ws). Nearly exposing Wesker’s secret allegiance was Enrico, one character who came close to revealing the truth.
In the end, Enrico might have been fatally wounded by some unidentified Bio-Organic Weapon (B.O.W) at the mansion, but it was Wesker who ultimately terminated him permanently by firing a shot straight into his chest. With the operation progressing flawlessly, Wesker felt he couldn’t afford any leaks of information, as it would have threatened his own standing. This incident underscores why Umbrella was hesitant about Enrico ascending to the rank of S.T.A.R.S commander. His sharp mind and keen eyesight made him a formidable investigator, capable of unmasking Umbrella’s secretive objectives.
4. Sergei Vladimir
Sergei’s Suspicions Of Wesker Being A Backstabbing Traitor Turned Out To Be True
In the spin-off game “Umbrella Chronicles,” we encounter the intriguing character, Sergei Vladimir, who isn’t featured in the main series. Remarkably quick-rising through Umbrella’s ranks, Sergei frequently interacted with Wesker, a relationship that eventually turned sour due to his growing distrust towards Wesker. Sergei believed Wesker to be the kind of person who would betray his fellow comrades for personal gain, an observation he unfortunately verified when he met a violent end at the hands of this superhuman figure.
Following a raid on Sergei’s private compound, Wesker – who had significantly enhanced speed and strength compared to Sergei – effortlessly subdued Sergei, despite his mutation. Throughout Wesker’s professional life, Sergei was an irritating obstacle that consistently stood in his way at the top of the hierarchy.
3. James Marcus
Marcus’ Wasn’t Providing Enough Results For Umbrella To Keep Him Around Any Longer
As Wesker and Birkin became part of Umbrella, James Marcus gradually found his scientific standing diminishing. The turning point came when Birkin was publicly acknowledged as the creator of the T-virus, a fact that deeply embarrassed Marcus. In time, Spencer decided that Marcus was outdated in the contemporary Umbrella setting, leading to an order for him to be eliminated.
The assassination was a collaborative act carried out by Wesker, Birkin, and several lower-ranking soldiers. Their objective was to eliminate Marcus from Umbrella, paving the way for them to claim the company’s top positions. However, Marcus’ return in Resident Evil 0 is actually a simulacrum created by the Queen Leech, not the real Marcus coming back to life.
2. Excella Gionne
Excella’s Trust Was Betrayed After Wesker Injected Her With Uroboros
In Resident Evil 5, Excella frequently stands by Wesker’s side, leveraging her high-ranking role in Tricell to aid him in his global conquest with Uroboros. However, it seems that Excella was unaware of Wesker’s true nature before their encounter, as she naively thought he held affection for her. Eventually, after Excella had fulfilled her role, Wesker chose to exploit her, using her as a grotesque demonstration of Uroboros’ impact on the human body.
In a short while after Chris and Sheva embarked on Wesker’s ship, they encountered Excella. Upon calling out Wesker one last time, Excella transformed into an enormous monster that overtook the entire vessel (tanker). Since Excella developed deep affection for Wesker during their journey, it underscores just how heartless he is, as his willingness to sacrifice her solely to entertain Chris and Sheva demonstrates.
1. Lisa Trevor
Lisa Trevor’s Life Was Entirely Ruined By Wesker And His Selfish Schemes
In their early years, Lisa Trevor and her mom were abducted by Umbrella Corporation and subjected to their diverse, custom-made viruses and illnesses as test subjects. Sadly, Lisa’s mom didn’t survive, while Lisa underwent a grotesque transformation into a monster. Now, she was confined to the gloomy corridors of Spencer Mansion, mournfully calling for her deceased mother and unable to take any other action.
In the story titled “Umbrella Chronicles“, readers discover how Wesker slipped away from the mansion before it was demolished, but not without crossing paths with Lisa one last time. After firing a hail of bullets at her, an injured and possibly dead Lisa is left beneath a collapsed chandelier; as he departs, Wesker coldly remarks, “Make sure you stay dead this time.” Throughout the story, it’s clear that Wesker showed no remorse towards the young girl he transformed into a monster, and he couldn’t care less about the people whose lives he had destroyed.
