Resident Evil Could Be Bringing Back Controversial Character

Okay, so it looks like they might be bringing Sheva Alomar back to the Resident Evil series! Honestly, Resident Evil is kinda known for introducing awesome characters and then just… dropping them after one game, and Sheva was definitely one of those. She was a playable character with Chris in Resident Evil 5, and after that, she just disappeared. I haven’t seen her play a big part in any of the games since, so this is pretty exciting if it’s true!

When Resident Evil 5 first came out, Sheva was generally well-received by both players and critics. However, she remains a somewhat divisive character within the Resident Evil series. Players who experienced the game in co-op mode with a friend tend to have a more positive view of Sheva than those who played alone, largely because her artificial intelligence isn’t very good. In fact, many fans consider the AI-controlled Sheva to be one of the most frustrating characters in the entire franchise, which makes the recent rumors of her potential return rather surprising.

Eva La Dare, the actress who plays Sheva Alomar, hinted on social media that she has some exciting projects coming in March, using the hashtag for the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil. While some fans are hoping this means a remake of Resident Evil 5 is on the way, it’s more probable that Sheva will reappear in one of the franchise’s animated movies. Makoto Fukami, who wrote previous Resident Evil animated films like Vendetta and Death Island, has expressed interest in making a movie starring Sheva and Barry Burton, potentially set in Antarctica. However, it’s important to note that this movie hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

Resident Evil 5 Remake is Reportedly NOT in the Works

Dusk Golem, known as AestheticGamer and a trusted source for Resident Evil news, says that a remake of Resident Evil 5 isn’t being worked on right now. According to reports, Capcom is planning remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica next. While a Resident Evil 5 remake could happen in the future, it looks like Capcom’s remake plans are set for the next few years.

Fans of Resident Evil should note that the series will celebrate its 30th anniversary on March 22nd.

Fans of Resident Evil have a new game to look forward to soon: Resident Evil Requiem, which releases on February 27th. Players will be able to control both Leon S. Kennedy and a new character, Grace Ashcroft. While some fans believe Sherry Birkin might also appear, that hasn’t been officially announced. It’s generally expected that Sheva Alomar won’t be featured in the game.

I’ve always thought Sheva’s gotten a bit of a bad rap, and honestly, I think a lot of the negativity comes from how her AI acted in the game, not really her as a character. I’m really hoping a fully animated movie will finally let her personality come through and show everyone how cool she is! Either way, I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for any news around the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil in March – maybe we’ll get some exciting announcements then!
