Resident Evil Fan Shows Off Stunning Recreation of Spencer Mansion in The Sims

After the positive reception of Resident Evil Requiem, many longtime fans have been revisiting classic Resident Evil games to experience their favorite moments and locations. One dedicated player took this a step further by rebuilding the infamous Spencer Mansion in The Sims 4. While the mansion originally appeared in the 1996 Resident Evil, the player based their recreation on the 2002 remake, offering other players a glimpse of what the mansion would look like with updated graphics.

Fans are really enjoying the recent wave of survival horror games from Capcom, especially the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, as well as Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Revelations. It’s been a long journey since the original Resident Evil first appeared on PlayStation, followed by the first official remake for GameCube in 2002. That version was later updated for Wii in 2008, and then received a high-definition remaster on PC, PlayStation 3 & 4, and Xbox 360 & One in 2015. The game even came to Nintendo Switch in 2019. However, many players still hope for a modern remake using Capcom’s RE Engine. While not an official remake, a detailed recreation of the Spencer Mansion in The Sims 4 has given fans a taste of what a revitalized version of the original Resident Evil could be like.

A Reddit user named stagla wowed the community by recreating the iconic Spencer Mansion from the 2002 Resident Evil remake within The Sims 4. The impressive build starts with a grand entrance hall featuring dark wood, polished tiles, and a stunning marble staircase. Details like the railings, carpeting, and lighting perfectly capture the mansion’s atmosphere. The recreation extends to key areas like the dining room, a specific staircase, and an exhibition room, instantly bringing back memories of the game. Fans will also recognize the Greenhouse, Mirror Corridor, Death Mask Crypt, and even a researcher’s room complete with the famous “Itchy, Tasty” note.

As a big fan of both Resident Evil and The Sims 4, I was really excited to see someone tackle recreating Spencer Mansion! It was tough, though, because The Sims tends to make everything look so… clean. It ended up looking a lot nicer than the creepy, decaying mansion we all know and love from Resident Evil. I’d seen this creator rebuild the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center before, and that actually worked really well because that location is supposed to be sterile. But even though it wasn’t a perfect match, fans of both games were super supportive! It’s got a lot of us hoping Capcom might consider bringing the Spencer Mansion back in a future Resident Evil game, especially after Resident Evil Requiem.

Rumors are circulating that a remake of Resident Evil might be announced sooner than fans think. Some leaks indicate Code: Veronica is a high priority for a remake, and Capcom has confirmed the Resident Evil team is currently working on downloadable content for Resident Evil Requiem. Since a modernized version of the original Resident Evil is still likely a ways off, fans are eagerly paying attention to any potential glimpses of a new version, even fan-made recreations in games like The Sims 4.
