Resident Evil Requiem introduces a new main character, Grace Ashcroft, and the game developers have shared some details about what makes her unique compared to other leads in the series.
Fans are getting increasingly excited for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom recently shared that the game will include characters from past titles, and now the producer has discussed what makes Requiem’s protagonist, Grace, unique compared to other lead characters in the series.
Resident Evil Requiem’s Grace is An Ordinary Person, But is a ‘Bit More Used to Guns’
In a recent interview with CheckpointGaming, the producer of Resident Evil Requiem, Masato Kumazawa, discussed the character of Grace. He explained that the main goal with her character is to frighten players, and he believes she’s the most easily scared protagonist in the entire Resident Evil series. Kumazawa also stated he wants players to share in her fear and immerse themselves in the game’s atmosphere, emphasizing that she’s meant to be a relatable, everyday person.
Requiem’s Grace works as an FBI Analyst, so she’s familiar with firearms. Unlike characters like Chris and Leon who immediately resort to shooting or hand-to-hand combat, Grace and Ethan are more realistic. Kumazawa explains that Ethan is the most average person in the game, while Grace simply has a bit more experience with guns than he does.
Kumazawa explained that Grace isn’t as skilled as characters like Leon and Chris. The game’s design focuses on making players feel restricted in what they have available, challenging them to be resourceful. While it’s inspired by traditional horror survival games, it also includes fresh features and weapons to enhance the experience.
There’s a rumor going around that Resident Evil Requiem will have downloadable content after it releases. Also, many are predicting it will be more popular than Resident Evil Village.
