Resident Evil’s Plans for the Next 3 Years Just Leaked Online

Plans for the next three years of Capcom’s popular Resident Evil franchise have reportedly been revealed online. Since its debut in 1996, Capcom has consistently released new Resident Evil games—including entirely new stories, spin-offs, and updated versions of classic titles. There’s usually a new Resident Evil release almost every year.

A new Resident Evil game has come out every year starting in 2019, with 2024 being the only exception so far. The releases began with the Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019, then Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil: Resistance in 2020. Resident Evil Village (also known as Resident Evil 8) followed in 2021, and Resident Evil Re: Verse came out in 2022, though it’s no longer available. Fans finally got the Resident Evil 4 remake in 2023, and 2025 saw the release of Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a popular strategy game for mobile devices.

Fans are excited for Resident Evil Requiem, launching on February 27th. The game will combine the scary, first-person perspective of recent Resident Evil titles with the classic over-the-shoulder gameplay that’s been a series staple since RE4 in 2005. While Capcom hasn’t revealed future plans, reliable sources suggest more content is on the way. According to insider AestheticGamer, Resident Evil Requiem will receive downloadable content later this year, and Resident Evil 10 is currently slated for release in 2029.

Recent leaks are giving us a clearer picture of Capcom’s plans for the Resident Evil series between now and 2029. The latest information suggests a remake of Resident Evil — Code: Veronica is coming first, likely in early 2027. Following that, a remake of Resident Evil Zero is anticipated in 2028. If these leaks are true, Capcom appears to be aiming to release a new Resident Evil game every year. However, it’s important to remember that these plans aren’t final, and any of these rumored projects could be delayed. One source, AestheticGamer, even suggests that Resident Evil 10 might not arrive until 2030 or 2031.

What About Other Rumored Resident Evil Remakes?

For a while, people have been speculating about remakes of both the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 5, hoping they’d be updated with the same gameplay style as the more recent remakes. However, these rumors haven’t been confirmed by any trustworthy sources. While these remakes might happen someday, based on the release schedule Capcom has planned for future Resident Evil games, it looks like fans won’t see either one until at least the 2030s.

Fans of Resident Evil have more than just the upcoming video game to anticipate. A new movie based on the series is scheduled for release later this year, helmed by Zach Creggar, the director known for Barbarian and Weapons. Given the success of his previous films, expectations are high for this new Resident Evil adaptation, and fans are eager to see what he’s created.
