Resistance 4 Was Pitched By Insomniac, But PlayStation Turned It Down

According to Ted Price, who is about to become the president of Insomniac Games, they had plans to create Resistance 4, but Sony’s PlayStation decided against it.

During an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Price was questioned about a game concept he particularly liked that wasn’t given the go-ahead for production.

“Yeah, I’ll share one,” Price said after a brief pause. “Resistance 4.”

He went on to say: “We proposed an idea, which was fantastic, but unfortunately, due to timing and market conditions, it didn’t succeed. However, it was born out of many Insomniac team members being deeply invested in expanding the storyline because I firmly believe that Resistance has established a unique alternate history, one where the Chimera can continue to evolve and reveal their origins.

In their own words, Price mentioned they devoted considerable effort to crafting the background tale and generating ideas about potential directions for the series.

He expressed his fondness for this series, mentioning that he held the position of creative director on the initial two installments of “Resistance”. Reflecting on the experience, there were numerous instances – both positive and negative – during development that served as valuable lessons, helping us grow under challenging circumstances.

Since the release of Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006, the main series has not had a new installment since Resistance 3 in 2011. Although there’s no clear answer about whether Insomniac Games will create another Resistance game, Price expressed his hope that it might happen someday.
