As a seasoned Vault Hunter and a dedicated follower of the Borderlands universe, I’ve seen my fair share of characters that have left indelible marks on this wild and chaotic world. Among them all, Zer0 has always been an enigma wrapped in a riddle, shrouded in mystery and dripping with coolness.

Gearbox Software’s new addition to the “Borderlands” series is an open secret. It could be “Borderlands 4” or another installment in the chaotic looter-shooter franchise. Fans eagerly anticipate the potential return of certain beloved characters for this potential new game. The Vault Hunters, known for their quirky personalities and affinity for firearms, have left some fan favorites waiting for a comeback in the “Borderlands” universe.

In Borderlands 4, you’ll have an impressive array of strong and amusing Vault Hunters to choose from, making it a challenging decision as to which one should take the lead. Many Vault Hunters from pastBorderlands games are worthy contenders, but only a select few will ultimately be recognized as the best.

7 Brick

The Berserker Who Loves To Punch Things And People

  • Playable in: Borderlands

Brick takes a particular fondness for leaving firearms behind and indulging in raw, unthinking fist fights instead, though he might equally adore puppies. Brick has been a recurring character in every major installment of the Borderlands series, and it would be delightful to see him return. He’s known for his boisterousness, deep emotions, and an uncanny toughness when dealing with both physical altercations and emotional situations.

A return of Brick as a Vault Hunter would be excellent, not just because of his unique skills as a melee fighter specializing in healing and powerful explosive damage triggered by Berserk mode. But also due to his entertaining and humorous personality. Brick is undeniably one of the funniest characters in Borderlands, and having him bring back the laughter during the chaos would be a delight.

6 Zer0

An Assassin With Unknown Origin

  • Playable in: Borderlands2

As a highly-skilled assassin for hire, I can’t help but admire Zer0’s prowess as the deadliest hunter in the galaxy. He thrives on the thrill of the chase, be it driven by politics or targeting an ordinary ruffian. His abilities are second to none, and he consistently proves this through his extraordinary talent to blend into the shadows and become virtually invisible. With his formidable strength comes a sense of intrigue – the world may never fully understand the depths of Zer0’s power.

It would be intriguing to include the character named Zer0 in Borderlands 4. Given that little is known about his identity – is he a robot, an alien, or perhaps human? – unraveling this mystery would add depth to the game’s narrative. A focus on assassin-centric gameplay for Zer0’s class could significantly enhance the overall playing experience.

5 Athena

A Former Lance Assassin Turned Hired Gun

  • Playable in: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

In the game “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel,” the Gladiator class with the name Athena excels in battle, taking the lead and utilizing her shield for both pushing enemies back and soaking up damage. This enables her to perform impressive combat techniques and stealth assassinations. Athena is a highly admired character in the “Borderlands” series, known for her cool demeanor and experience.

As a gamer who’s played Athena since she was trained as an assassin in her youth, I can tell you that she’s a force to be reckoned with, lethal and deadly, but there’s also a compassionate side to her that emerges when the situation calls for it. There’s one thing, though, that really sets Athena off: the Atlas corporation. If they make an appearance in Borderlands 4 as another mega-corp pulling the strings, I’d be thrilled to see how Athena reacts. She’s been a part of this series since the very beginning, thanks to the Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC, so it would be great if she returned after her absence for another adventure.

4 Amara

The Cimrefighting Siren Of Partali

  • Playable in: Borderlands3

As a passionate gamer who can’t get enough of a good fight and is always on the lookout for unique characters, I’m particularly drawn to Amara – her Siren abilities are just the tip of the iceberg. Her South Asian cultural background adds an intriguing layer that deserves further exploration. Although Sirens have appeared in the Borderlands games before, Amara’s implementation of these powers is what sets her apart. Her phase-casted fists offer a fresh take on the Siren class, making her a standout character worth delving deeper into.

1. It’s refreshing to see new characters in the world of Borderlands, and Amara is one such fresh face among the Vault Hunters. It would be great if she could carry on into the series’ future. Given that she’s a Siren, her chances are promising as these characters possess extraordinary and enigmatic abilities. However, remember there can only ever be six active Sirens at once in this universe.

3 Mordecai

A Hunter With A Passion For Birds

  • Playable in: Borderlands

Mordecai, with his fondness for money, firearms, alcohol, and his late pet raven named Bloodwing, was among the pioneering Vault Hunters on Pandora. He’s a character fans would welcome back in future games. For those who relish sniping and revolver shooting, Mordecai as a playable character was an enjoyable experience, even more so with Bloodwing, his AI-assisted companion beast, by your side.

Although it’s unfortunate that Bloodwing met with a fatal end, this shouldn’t prevent Mordecai from claiming the rewards the universe owes him. It would be intriguing to see Mordecai cope with the grief of losing Bloodwing, while at the same time showcasing his charming knack for seeking danger.

2 Timothy Lawrence (Jack)

Handsome Jack’s Body Double

  • Playable in: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

On Helios, Timothy Lawrence took over as CEO of Hyperion, replacing the genuine Handsome Jack, following reconstructive surgery. He came equipped with an array of skills and devices that Jack found useful. Although his abilities weren’t particularly impressive, his attractive appearance and persuasive voice certainly stood out.

The illustrious and brutal Handsome Jack may have seen his end in Borderlands2, but his legacy lives on in what remains of Hyperion and with his body double, Timothy Lawrence. Despite looking and sounding like Jack, Timothy Lawrence is indeed not. Everyone loves Handsome Jack thanks to his performance from Dameon Clarke, so why not bring him back, but as a kinder version?

1 Salvador

The Gunzerker Who Can Dual-Wield Any Two Weapons

  • Playable in: Borderlands2

In Salvador’s perspective, the magnitude of things is insignificant, and nothing can hinder his passion for plunder, clashes, and a vast collection of firearms. As the Gunzerker character, Salvador proved to be an entertaining choice, allowing players to wield not one but two extraordinarily powerful weapons in battle. This feature granted them the benefits of swift reloads, heightened damage output, and almost infinite ammunition magazines.

Salvador has been missing from the scene after his experience in “Borderlands 2”. We hope this changes soon. His disappearance isn’t unexpected given the substantial reward on his head, enough to scare anyone. However, it’s likely that Salvador is up for the task with a pair of oversized guns in hand.
