After a long wait, the first episode of Re:Zero Season 4 is almost here! The release date for the new season of this popular anime about being transported to another world has been confirmed, and we now know where you’ll be able to watch it in most countries, including the US and much of Asia (outside of Japan).
I’m following the story of Re:Zero again with Season 4, and it picks up right after the intense events of Season 3 where Subaru, the main character with the ability to ‘Return by Death,’ was navigating the challenges of the royal selection alongside other candidates. This new season starts in the wake of a devastating attack by the Witch Cult on the kingdom of Priestella.

What to Expect in Re:Zero Season 4 Episode 1
Subaru and Emilia Must Conquer the Desert and the Watch Tower
With the issues in Priestella settled, Subaru is now focused on getting back Rem’s memories and name, which were taken by the Sin Archbishops. He also needs to revive Puck and rescue the others who suffered at the hands of these powerful enemies, making his quest even more critical and fast-paced.
The first episode of Re:Zero Season 4 will pick up right after the attack by the Priestella forces. It will then move into the story of Arc 6, where Subaru travels to the Augria Sand Dunes – a huge desert famous for being home to the Pleiades Watch Tower. To find answers to their challenges, Subaru needs to reach this legendary tower and overcome its defenses and tests to speak with the all-knowing sage who resides there.
I’ll never let you see me giving up.—Subaru Natsuki
It’s much harder than it sounds – even Reinhard van Astrea, the strongest swordsman alive, couldn’t get past the tower’s defenses. Subaru needs help from some unexpected sources – former enemies, in fact – and will have to form shaky alliances if he wants to survive the tower’s dangers.
