Summary
- Rocket League Season 17 has been extended to March 14.
- The season was initially planned to conclude nine days earlier.
- Rocket League Season 18 will start with a “crossbar ping,” Psyonix said, without elaborating on what this means.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the Season 17 of Rocket League has been prolonged and will now conclude on March 14th! Psyonix, the game creators, have dropped a tantalizing teaser about what’s in store for us with their next seasonal content release. I can hardly wait!
Beginning December 4, 2024, marked the commencement of Season 17. This season brought forth a fresh addition to the Rocket Pass vehicles – Shokunin, along with the Neo Tokyo (Arcade) Arena Variant. Other new features were also unveiled. Limited-time events for the game Rocket League, such as the Free Play Party and Frosty Fest 2024, were presented during this season. As is customary, Season 17 was scheduled to last for three months, concluding on March 5.
Psyonix has adjusted the schedule, informing us that the current season of Rocket League is now extended by nine days and will run until March 14. This means Season 18 has been pushed back to the same date. Interestingly, March 14 being a Friday, this delay results in an unusual situation where a new season won’t begin on a Wednesday.
Psyonix Teases ‘Crossbar Ping’ for Rocket League Season 18
As a dedicated Rocket League gamer, I can tell you that Psyonix didn’t give a specific reason for the delay, but they did announce an extension and dropped a short teaser hinting at the start of Season 18 featuring something called a “crossbar ping.” Now, whether this means we’ll get a new audio cue in the next seasonal update is up in the air. However, the gaming community seems to be interpreting it as more than that, with some speculating that the devs might be alluding to fixing those pesky physics glitches that sometimes occur when the ball collides with a crossbar.
What’s Coming in Rocket League Season 18?
As of now, Psyonix hasn’t provided specifics about Season 18, but a “crossbar ping” teaser is all we have to go by regarding the upcoming content release. Normally, developers announce new seasons about ten days before they begin, so it was anticipated that this would happen during the last week of February for Season 18, which was later pushed back to mid-March 2025. After the delay, more information about the update is expected to be shared around March 4.
According to Psyonix’s history, it seems highly likely that Season 18 will introduce a fresh Rocket Pass with a distinctive theme, a novel car body, as well as various other cosmetics. Additionally, we can expect an extra Arena variant, temporary game modes and events, another rotation of competitive playlists, a community highlight, and potentially some new collaborations to be included in the package.
