Rumor: Battlefield 6 Has 9 New Game Modes in Development

Fans of the upcoming Battlefield 6 might be excited to learn that data miners have discovered code hinting at nine potential new game modes. EA has previously expressed its ambition for Battlefield 6 to be the largest and most successful game in the series, suggesting ongoing content updates. These recent findings could give players a preview of what’s to come.

EA’s newest first-person shooter has had a rocky start to its life. Although player numbers have dropped since launch, the game initially attracted a huge audience. Since then, developers have been quickly releasing updates to fix issues reported by players. Despite the challenges, the future looks bright for the game, as Battlefield Studios plans to add lots of new content in the months ahead.

Battlefield 6 Datamine Reveals Nine Upcoming Game Modes

Insider Gaming has discovered files suggesting nine unreleased game modes are hidden within Battlefield 6. Before Season One launched, six multiplayer modes were found in the game’s code that weren’t yet available. While two of those – Sabotage and Strikepoint – were later added with Season One, four remained unannounced. Now, dataminers have found five more: Convoy, Fantastic Four, Gunmaster, Touchdown, and Tug of War. Combined with the four previously discovered modes – Raid, Payload, Squad Shootout, and Tank Hunt – that makes a total of nine unreleased and unconfirmed match types.

Recent discoveries in the game files for Battlefield 6 reveal five new game modes currently labeled as “prototypes.” This likely means they’re still early in development and won’t be released for a while. With Battlefield 6 already offering 11 multiplayer modes – and two more, Sabotage and Ice Lock, planned for release later this season – the developers don’t seem to be in a hurry to add these new options.

We don’t yet know exactly how the new game modes will work, but their names offer some hints. “Gunmaster” sounds like modes from other games—like “Gun Game” in Call of Duty and “Escalation” in Valorant—where players quickly switch weapons after each kill, and need to master them all to win. “Tug of War” suggests a mode where teams fight for control or race to complete objectives. As for when we’ll get to play these modes, the game’s code doesn’t say. Given that the current season of Battlefield 6 ends in December, these new modes might not be available until 2026.
