As a long-time gaming enthusiast and follower of the industry’s latest developments, I’ve grown particularly intrigued by the recent rumors surrounding Bluepoint Games’ upcoming project. Having played numerous games developed by this talented studio, from their exceptional remake of Shadow of the Colossus to their immersive Demon’s Souls remake, my expectations for their next creation are high.
A peek into Bluepoint Games’ Austin studio may have accidentally revealed their upcoming project through a recent tour video. Bluepoint, known for their last release, the “Demon’s Souls” remake in 2020, was acquired by Sony in 2021.
As an avid fan, I’ve noticed that Bluepoint Studios has been secretively working on a new project for quite some time now. Although they’ve described it as “original,” many of us believe that this could be a hint towards a new installment or reboot of one of our beloved PlayStation franchises. The studio has kept mum about the details, but their Head of Technology, Peter Dalton, assured us earlier that development on Bluepoint’s next game is progressing steadily. He even addressed rumors suggesting a cancellation of the project.
In December 2023, a presentation obtained from the Insomniac data breach featured concept art from various PlayStation studios, including Bluepoint Games. The artwork showcased two characters wielding spears and standing before what appeared to be an Aztec pyramid, suggesting a fantasy theme. Additionally, a recent LinkedIn video of Malaysian prime minister Gobind Singh Deo’s visit to PlayStation Studios Malaysia may have accidentally revealed more concept art for Bluepoint’s upcoming game around the 22-second mark.
Newfound Concept Art Possibly Alludes to the Setting of Bluepoint’s Next Game
As an assistant helping you analyze some recently unveiled images, I’d express it this way: I’ve come across freshly unearthed pictures, albeit somewhat pixelated. These snapshots share resemblances to Bluepoint’s artwork from the Insomniac leak. For instance, there’s a character donning Aztec-inspired armor and wielding a weapon that looks like a sledgehammer in hand. Yet, what intrigues me most is the background, which shows a high-tech chamber. This could be an indication of Bluepoint exploring sci-fi elements combined with Aztec mythology for their upcoming project. Please keep in mind that this is pure speculation and should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, it’s becoming increasingly clear that, contrary to previous rumors, Bluepoint isn’t involved in creating a remake or sequel of “Bloodborne.”
As a long-time gaming enthusiast and follower of Bluepoint Games, I’m just as excited as many others about their mysterious “original” project. Having seen the studio’s impressive work on remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, I can only imagine what they have in store for us with a new game from the ground up.
