There are whispers in the gaming community that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard might be unveiled for the supposed Switch 2 this week, possibly during a potential Nintendo Direct. However, it’s important to note that neither Nintendo nor Capcom have confirmed any plans for a port of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on the Switch 2. This recent speculation ties in with another rumor suggesting an upcoming Nintendo Direct may showcase “three sevens,” hinting at potential announcements.

First introduced in January 2017 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” marked the beginning of two games starring Ethan Winters. It was not only the first “Resident Evil” game to be played from a first-person perspective but also the inaugural project developed using Capcom’s RE Engine, which has since been used in games like “Monster Hunter World” and the upcoming “Resident Evil Requiem.” A cloud-based port of “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” was released on the original Switch in Japan in 2018 and worldwide in 2022. This cloud version was created as a solution to overcome the hardware constraints of the Nintendo Switch.
Capcom May Show Off Resident Evil 7 for Switch 2 During a Potential Nintendo Direct
Despite rumors needing to be viewed skeptically, it’s been claimed by two industry insiders that the horror game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard could potentially release on another platform. This speculation was further supported by gaming leaker Nash Weedle and content creator Attack The Backlog on Twitter. Nash Weedle referenced the antagonist of RE7, Eveline, who warned Ethan to stay away in a game segment where players must fend off her attacks. Attack The Backlog initially hinted at this rumor in connection with speculation about a possible Nintendo Direct event in September.
On the 6th of September, SwitchForce, another content creator, hinted that a potential Nintendo Direct broadcast might occur on the 12th of September, with the show featuring “three sevens” prominently. Given that the upcoming remakes for the Switch 2 of games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and 007 First Light incorporate the number seven, it’s plausible to assume that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard could also be announced for the Switch 2 if it fits this pattern.
Currently, neither Nintendo nor Capcom have announced specific dates for their next Direct broadcast or plans to bring Resident Evil 7: Biohazard to Nintendo’s latest console. Since Resident Evil 7 is celebrated for its return to horror gameplay roots, it’s uncertain if the popular title will be made available on a potential Switch 2 version in the future.
