Since then, Undead Labs has been rather tight-lipped about its development progress. However, a recent rumor surrounding “State of Decay 3” has surfaced, offering fans an estimated launch window for the game.

Microsoft has decided to release State of Decay 3 in 2026 instead of its initially planned launch in the previous year, as revealed by Jez Corden on his XB2 podcast. According to Corden, who anticipates the third-person open-world shooter’s release in early 2026, the game is nearly completed but will be delayed slightly.

The Coalition has been utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s power with help from Undead Labs, while Obsidian Entertainment is contributing to the development of the shared world aspect of the game. Furthermore, Undead Labs has teamed up with Blind Squirrel Entertainment and Wushu Studios for support on this project. Blind Squirrel Entertainment has previously worked on “Delta Force Hawk Ops” and “New World”, while Wushu Studios is known for their work on “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” and “Fall Guys”.
