Recent reports suggest that details about *Yakuza Kiwami 3* appeared briefly on the RGG Studio website. Although not an official announcement, this strongly hints that a remake of *Yakuza 3* is in development and could be revealed soon, potentially at the Tokyo Game Show.
The *Like a Dragon* series, originally known as *Yakuza*, started in 2005 and has grown with many sequels and related games. *Yakuza 3*, released in 2009, was initially only available on the PlayStation 3. While the first two *Yakuza* games were completely rebuilt with *Yakuza Kiwami 1* and *2*, *Yakuza 3* received a less extensive update, simply being remastered for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 Apparently Leaked on Dev’s Website
Gamers recently found a listing for *Yakuza Kiwami 3* on the website of RGG Studio, the game’s developer (as noted by Push Square). Although the listing has since been taken down, fans managed to screenshot it and share it online. So far, neither Sega nor RGG Studio has officially acknowledged the discovery.
As a big fan of the *Yakuza* series, I was really excited to hear that RGG Studio was thinking about remaking *Yakuza 3*! Last year, the director, Masayoshi Yokoyama, hinted that it was likely to happen “sooner or later,” but we haven’t gotten an official confirmation yet. I’m still hoping it’s in the works!

Earlier this month, Sega announced its plans for the Tokyo Game Show, taking place September 25-28. They showed off games like *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds*, *Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O World Stage*, and *Persona 5: The Phantom X*, and hinted at a few unannounced titles, possibly including *Yakuza 3 Kiwami*. Sega will also host its yearly Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit livestream next week, where they previously revealed *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, slated for release in 2024.

Fans are speculating that *Yakuza 3 Kiwami* might be revealed at the upcoming State of Play event. Recent, reliable reports suggest Sony is planning a State of Play for September, and it would be a great time to announce the game. Previous remakes, like *Like a Dragon Isshin*, were announced during past State of Play events, adding weight to these rumors. While an announcement next week seems likely, it’s best to remain cautious and wait for official confirmation.
