A reliable source inside Konami suggests there could be another undisclosed Silent Hill project under development. The established Japanese gaming company is eager to reintroduce the Silent Hill series to contemporary gamers through several upcoming installments, but it seems that Konami might have additional games in store beyond what they’ve publicly disclosed so far.
2015’s cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills project left the Silent Hill franchise in limbo for seven years, causing dismay among fans of the renowned survival horror series. But in 2022, Konami brought renewed excitement when they unveiled multiple new Silent Hill games, each with a unique scope and designed for various platforms. The main attractions were the PlayStation 5 exclusive remake of Silent Hill 2, and the mysterious Silent Hill f. Additionally, Silent Hill: Ascension, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Silent Hill: The Short Message were presented as fresh experiences, with the latter being a PS5 demo that debuted earlier this year.
Fans of the Silent Hill series are concerned about the future of the franchise due to the mixed reviews for Ascension and The Short Message. In a tweet, they shared a quote from Konami’s Q1 2024 financial report confirming their dedication to the future of Silent Hill. Furthermore, AestheticGamer claimed that Konami is working on an unannounced Silent Hill game internally, along with other undisclosed projects.
Rumored Silent Hill Project May Differ from the Currently Announced Games in One Big Way
It’s not entirely unexpected that another Silent Hill game could be in the works given Konami’s enthusiasm for the series. However, what makes this interesting is the rumor that this game might be developed internally instead of collaboratively like previous projects. The latest Silent Hill projects have been joint efforts between smaller developers and Konami, such as Bloober Team handling the remake of Silent Hill 2. If true, this could suggest that Konami may be planning to take a more active role in game development for these titles. Keep in mind, though, that this information is unconfirmed, so it should be taken with a bit of skepticism.
Additionally, it’s important to mention that Konami disbanded Team Silent, the original internal team responsible for creating the classic Silent Hill series, in the early 2000s.
