S1mple Wants To Return to Counter-Strike ‘Soon’

As a long-time CS:GO fan and follower of s1mple’s career, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation at the prospect of his return to the Counter-Strike scene. The GOAT, as he is affectionately known, has been sorely missed since his brief hiatus following the release of CS2.

S1mple, orally named Oleksandr, has yet to make a significant impact in the Counter-Strike 2 community following its September 2023 launch. He’s participated in just one competitive match since then. After the game’s debut, s1mple surprised fans by taking a break from competition.

I’m often referred to as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) in CS:GO, and my gaming resume is truly something to behold among esports legends.

The Return of the GOAT

Thorin and s1mple interacted briefly on Twitter, resulting in Kostyliev stating his intention to rejoin the Counter-Strike competitive scene. In a direct message, Thorin inquired from s1mple about the timeline for his return, prompting him to reply:

That’s a bit hard question, hopefully soon.

I’m excited to share that there’s been a hint of Kostyliev’s eagerness to make a comeback, even though it doesn’t guarantee an exact return date. At only 26 years old, s1mple still has ample time left in the competitive CS:GO scene, and fans are eagerly anticipating his disruption of the CS2 world. It’s been quite some time since his last significant victory, though. In the year 2022, he emerged triumphant at the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals alongside Natus Vincere, a team he has represented since 2016. Prior to that, in 2021, he claimed the top spot at the BLAST Premier: World Final.

In November 2021, Kostyliev won the PGL Major Stockholm, marking his first CS Major win ever.

Are you eager to see s1mple return to Counter-Strike?
