As you explore Fury Green, the first area in Metroid Prime 4, you’ll come across doors blocked by Fire Blockers. These require a powerful, High-Heat Weapon to open. Behind one of these doors is a challenging puzzle that can’t be solved until you’ve found all three elemental weapons. This guide will walk you through the first part of the puzzle, which involves removing the initial Fire Blocker, and then explain how to solve the complete puzzle using the Ice Shot and Thunder Shot as well.

Unlock Fire Shot First:

To open the door with the Fire Blocker near Base Camp, you first need to unlock the Fire Shot. This means completing the Fury Green and Volt Forge areas, then finding the Fire Chip in the accessible part of Flare Pool. After unlocking this powerful weapon, you can go back to the door and disable the Fire Blocker.

Fire Shot Ring & Brazier Puzzle:

When you open the flame-sealed door, you’ll find yourself in the Sacred Flame Ceremony chamber. The room has a noticeable purple glow, indicating where you can use Samus’s new psychic powers.

To start the puzzle, find and stand on the pressure plate in the middle of the large, circular area. Once you’re standing on it, you can grab onto the ring and slide it around the track. Your goal is to position the ring in front of each of the three pointed shapes around the track. When the ring is correctly placed, each shape will open, revealing a brazier underneath.

Carefully examine the surface to figure out the best way to slide the ring, because the path isn’t a simple straight line. You’ll need to move it both side to side and up and down to get it onto the correct track so it can be positioned properly.

Position the ring so it’s directly in front of the brazier, then fire a Fire Shot beam through the ring and into the coals.

Okay, so I finally got all three braziers lit, and this huge Lamorn statue appeared – it’s definitely a clue to something bigger going on in this room. When you face the statue, you’ll see two more doors, one on the left and one on the right. The one on the right is blocked by this thing called a Thunder Blocker, and it leads to the Rods of Transference puzzle. The door on the left has an Ice Blocker on it, and that one takes you to the Fountain of Tranquility puzzle. Apparently, if I can figure out those two puzzles, it’ll also solve this main Sacred Flame puzzle, which is awesome!

How to Solve the Fountain of Tranquility Puzzle:

Since you’ll get the Ice Shot early on, you’ll probably reach the Fountain of Tranquility first. Inside, you’ll notice two fountains, but only one is working. Look for the one that seems to be raising a platform – you’ll need to jump on it later. If you scan the fountain on the left, you’ll discover a Psychic Node hidden at its base.

First, freeze the water by shooting it with an Ice Shot before grabbing the Psychic Node. Then, place the Node in the base of the fountain on the right side – this will make the fountain rise higher than the one on the left. Immediately freeze this newly raised platform, and use it to jump from the left platform, across to the right, and finally onto the strange, floating platform in the center of the room.

You’ll discover a Shot Expansion on this platform, which is the key to solving the Fountain of Tranquility puzzle. Once solved, a white orb will appear alongside the flame orb at the large Lamorn statue in the main chamber.

How to Solve the Rods of Transference Puzzle:

Once you’ve obtained the Thunder Shot, go back to the Sacred Flame chamber and finish both the Rods of Transference puzzle and the main puzzle there.

From the main room, turn right and take away the device blocking the door. Inside, you’ll find a strange structure in the center with three rods. You can use your psychic powers to turn these rods. Each rod has two moving parts: one to point it at the center of the structure, and another to pull the rod downwards.

First, lower all three rods completely. Then, rotate the pointed rods inward, aiming their tips at the center of the object. Finally, fire multiple Thunder Shot beams directly at the center tip.

Continue firing until a short cutscene plays, signaling you’ve successfully completed the puzzle. As a reward, you’ll receive a Shot Expansion.

Sacred Flame Ceremony Reward:

Now that you’ve completed all three elemental puzzles, go back to the large Lamorn statue to get your final reward: an Energy Tank. It will rise from the ground at the statue’s base, completing the puzzle.
